Chavez

Chavez was in NYC recently and he is a very, very, good player. Rumor has it that he is out of Florida.

Hes Ignacio Chavez. He is a very good player. He is usually with a guy from South Carolina that is a lawyer that backs him. I always heard that he used to practice with Efren alot. Chavez's one pocket game is really really good. He is a really nice fellow too.

Kind of like a sparring partner?

Voodoo Daddy is correct that's Jesse Padilla.

He stays in Orlando most of the time @ Jimmy's Billiards and runs around with several backers. He is usually with his daughter or niece.

Recently he went to Detroit, then went to NY, and last I knew he was in St. Louis a few weeks ago. He's strong and uses 5+ different names I know of. If you plan to get in his wallet bring a big lunch, he shoots far better than Javier (Franco) Padilla (His real name also) out of Houston that I used to run around with.

:D

Yeah, this guy is really slick, he used the Jesse name when he came into the Flamingo. He cleaned out our at the time best 1P player, "Piano man".

He was suposed to come in a few months back and play Mike Najadin "California Mike" but Jesse got in a game at Fatso's and never made it.

He plays Jam up 1P. And plays a strong game of 9 ball.

He also played Bart over at Fatso's in Tampa using the Jesse name, he also plays a good game of 9 Ball, gave Bart the Wild 8 and wound up with about 600 bucks.

I was told a story about his 1P game and a shot he pulled off when he was tit hooked. How he just rolled the cue to the perfect spot and when the foul was pulled out and back to the table, it was a perfect freeze on the cue ball, and that locked off the other pocket. How many times do you think you can get the cue to that perfect spot?

I am reminded of a thread a year or so ago when the name "Chavez" was brought up. So I did a search on this forum and found this little nugget:

http://www.azbilliards.com/gallery/showpicture.cfm?eventnum=12&photographernum=1&picnum=447

The name listed on this picture is "Ignacio Chavez."

JAM

I'm prety sure Jam is right. If it is who I'm thinking, he played in one of my events a couple of years ago. He was on the road with Jason Kirkwood at the time. He is from McAllen Texas , but living in Michigan for some time. Pretty good player, but no world beater.

the dominicans bought him over to masters the last few weeks and this guy plays jam up. won a 54 man open tourney on thanksgiving eve beating all the best from nyc. took down shin young park twice that one night. park didnt want to gamble. (this is after park treated frankie H like a fish for $) then goes to the blaze and snaps that off. beat spain for $ gambling a while back. and is really smooth on the table. not feeling his style of play but he can play and make everything look easy. breaks the balls and has a nice easy spread everytime.

This guy is really fast at adjusting to table speed, he read our GC and had the speed down very quickly. That is very unusual for someone who has not played on it before, depending if the Door was open or if the A/C was on etc etc. He came in looking for Buddy, not knowing he had already moved back up north. To bad Earl was not around.:)

Chavez

I was introduced to him at the Blaze in A.C. He had beat up on Allen. On Monday I was with my boy Zion from Isreal down at Broadway Billiards in NYC.
and this Chavez walks in looking for a game of stake. We had no choice but to meet his needs. "Z" played him some 200 a set, beat him for two sets and Chavez quit.....

maaan zion can play. good guy too. everybody was saying they like chavez over zion .. but zion is a scrappy player. he dont make it look the easiest but he gets the job done. he beat ga young recently as well. new york is short stop city. anyone can beat anyone.

ps. you ppl gotta give me the heads up if action like that happens at bdway. i know the action at masters but i only go to bdway once in a while and i never catch action like that.

Just wondering why Mike felt the need to knock this player? Now that you know who he is, why not take down his pic?

Jesse/Chavez, from what I have seen, comes in and plays on the square. Why do we have to kill off his action coast to coast?

I was wondering when someone was going to snap to that, cheemagun. Could be why Mike brought it up. If so it's not knocking anyone. He could have done much worse.

yea.. the name just sounded too familar. but he does seem like a very nice guy tho ? but then who knows..

im finding so many threads out there about him out there is no secret that he can play anymore. i even read he beat rodney ?? !!!!
