Hey guys,

I have been using a morri Medium for since like forever, and i am finding that they tend to slick up to easily and need alot of care.

I am looking to have it replaced for something that is comparitive in feel and response.

I have seen alot of people talking about the sniper tips are they any good? and what hardness of the sniper would be eqaul to the Morri Medium?
 
Snipers are great.... they last for a very long time! I thought I heard they are comparable to the moori med but I will let others accurately make that claim.

I just use sandpaper to rough up the tip every now and then and it never seems to mushroom or loose shape....its the way to go IMO but everybody has different tastes...you might want to play with a sniper equipped cue before jumping on the bandwagon
 
Snipers are awesome. They hold shape, don't mushroom and hold chalk with little need for tacking, scuffing or shaping. Oooooh yea they play pretty good too.
 
While I myself play with a Sniper...an Everest may be a little closer to what you are looking for. All new Varney's come with Everest tips unless you specify something else. Predator also picked the Everest for their standard tip as well. Snipers are a unique tip...much like if you sliced up an Elkmaster and glued it up laminate style. The Everest is a bit closer to a more traditional laminate tip...with a hit similar to the older Moori M. Tips are a lot like guns...what one person loves...another will hate. Best bet is trial & error...just keep trying them until you find what you like.:wink:

Talisman pro medium - mine have lasted more than a year. Although I had to shape the played shaft about three or four times, I have yet to see a noticable reduction.

I guess that a Moori would have needed a lot more care to keep a dime shape, even when only played twice a week.

Are you sure it's a genuine Moori? I've been playing with a medium Moori for over a year. It mushroomed slightly during the first month of use but hasn't been a problem since. IMO, they're a great tip that require little to no maintenance.
 
yeah they are ! i picked up a few at the expo this past year! the salesman took them right out of the box in front of me.

Unless i got hustled (That Never Happens In Pool) or got the bad ones!

Sorry you're having a problem. Could be I was just lucky. I play just about every day so the tip is seeing a lot of action. I'm getting another cue and will probably put a Snipper tip on it (just because of all the good hype I see on this website). Good luck with your next tip whatever it may be.
 
What type of cue shaft are you shooting with?
What diameter tip or ferrule?

I am playing with a Sniper tip on a Tiger X Ultra shaft and love it !
I also have played with the Wizard tips and like them very much as well.
Try doing a search on Wizard tips there has been a bit of talk about them im sure you can find all the info you need on them . They cost around $7 and most that have tried them have said they are just as good as the high price tips .

While on the subject of tips I recently had a Black Diamond layered leather tip installed on my breaking cue ( thanks Terry ) and I couldn't be more happy with it ! This Black Diamond tip grabs the cue ball great so you can just hit the rack as hard as you like without worrying about a miscue or the cueball flying around or off the table !

I Am using a Schon Shaft 12.9 or 13mm, with an ivory substitute Ferrule (One That Stays Clean No Matter What) and like i said a Moori Medium Tip
 
I switched for the same reason from the Moori medium to the Kamui. I have not had any issues with the Kamuis yet. Most times I will forget to chalk while practicing and not have a problem with miscueing.
 
Everest might do you well. They're a comparable feel to the Morri med. with maybe a bit more "feel" to them when you hit the ball firm.

Ditto here! The Kamui is great. My cuemaker Mike Capone recommended this tip as better than the Moori and he was correct IMO. To throw in a cudo for Mike - he made me a beautiful forward balanced cue with OB1 shafts and I love it. Quite hitting shaft with a great tip - I am loving life right now.

I played with a hard Sniper and hated the feel. I just don't like hard tips. I heard they make medium hard tips and I haven't tried them. At the time I got my Sniper only the hard tip was available.

A Little Insight!!!

After speaking with Pete Tascarella Sr. who is not a big fan of Layered tips he suggested that it maybe the chalk. He said he as well has been struggling with miscueing alot as well when using the new Master Chalks.

He had switched to another chalk, i think it is Blue Diamond or something like that. And he has not had a problem since!

He said they changed the formula due to health reasons, said that there is something in the old chalk that is bad for your health, but then again what isnt bad for your health!


Has anyone else experienced problems with the new master chalks ?


He did say that if i still wanted to switch and wanted to stay with the layered tip he would recommend the Kamui (Spelling?)

Lead was found in some chalks, I use to have a report. Masters says it is not in their chalk. However a few years ago Masters changed the label and their newer green chalk is a much lighter color. The blue appears to be about the same color, I have both.

As far as playing, I think both play the same. If I miscue, I was to far out on whitey or the dreaded snatch and jerk pool stroke. LOL

Can't help with the tips other than I'd bet a sniper is a softer tip than the morri.
