Never playing 9-ball again!!!

If u are not a runout player then 9-ball is definitely not a game for u but as for 10-ball....well it cuts that break and run away for alot of players. Luck on the other hand well....I don't know of any games to where there isn't some kind of luck involved...
Don't forget that luck runs both ways but sometimes when you're playing bad it seems like you never get a roll....
Thats just the way it goes..... Sometimes you're the windsheild sometimes you're the bug...

Exactly how much did you lose , playing your last game of 9-ball ? :thud:

It was a tourney on bar boxes, so not a whole lot. 1st loss was to a low handicap banger framming at everything, 2nd loss guy just kept cut breaking the 1 in the side then running out.

I know alot of folks here are saying try straight pool but 1-pocket is a great game and stands alone from the rest of the games....

I'm no fan of the "paint by number" type rotation games either. The word that comes to my mind is redundant.

It's kind of like having a nice chess board with all the pieces available to you and deciding to use them to play checkers.

I will disagree with you in terms of it being a luck game. The game can be enjoyed (for what it is) with a higher level of awareness and execution as your skill level improves. 10 ball is a bit less boring than 9ball and far the better of the two rotation games IMO.

But, to remove the numbered road map from your game and unleash your creativity try some 14.1 and some 1Pkt.

I'm not the best pool player in the world but I'm good enough to enjoy the finer points of the game and I can tell you, the more you know, and the better you execute, the more you can enjoy games like 1pkt.

When I see people say it's like watching paint dry, I think of what Danny DiLiberto said once. ( I think it was in reference to 14.1 however) he said ... "If you knew what ya didn't know, you wouldn't not know it."

It doesn't make much sense till ya think about it, then it really does make sense. The better you get the more you will enjoy.

That's what people say who aren't good enough at it.

Or who aren't betting high enough. If you bet just a bit more than you can afford to lose on a one pocket game, every shot becomes much more interesting, even the little "bunt" safeties. And if you bet even more, the game can become down right terrifying. I remember a time when I was playing for way more than I should have and got so panicky that I could barely draw the cue back.

Ah,ha!

You're playing on a barbox! No wonder that you're bored. I mean they are cute but are they really , "Pool tables?" And in a league at that! Tsk, tsk.
Try to find a bar with , " Bumper pool." That's always a nice change of pace.:boring::grin:

Just havin' fun!!

Good for you-all slop games suck-

The world comes crushing down even on Nice Guy Pool players. Practice is the best advise, and lessons. Move to the big tables, player snooker(5-10) big balls to develop more accuracy.(9 ball requires up and down travel, longer shape shots). Just practice skills for 9 ball.( if your going to play sometime) I usually refuse to play on the little tables. I play a little, just in case. Nobody can make you feel anything- play day time specials ,wk ends- no league whats so ever. I've played on the snooker tables for 2 yrs - just take a break from pool all together- its not life or death. have a great day thanks in advance for any comments-friend.

i just have to agree with whatever it was he said

I highly recommend any up and comers to play a lot of 9 ball. It's the game you have the best chance of making money as a pro with, is the best for tv, and is not as easy as people make it out to be.

9 Ball is a great game.

If you can run a rack from the break then you'll love it!

You have to learn how to break well and control whitey. Some tables work better w/ a hard break and some w/ a soft. You have to try the various types of breaks and figure it out for the table.

Then you have to recognize the patterns of 9 ball. Where are your problem balls. You need to find the problem at the beginning of the rack. There is always at least one problem shot.

You also need to know how to play safe...know how to kick...and kick to play safe - not just kick to hit. Oh, and you DEFINITELY have to know how to jump these days or your dust.

Lastly, you need to know how to bank. The great players WILL play position for high percentage banks so they can run out. The greatest players are aggressive.

So let's see. We have shotmaking, kicks, banks, safes, breaks....umm...pretty much all of the facets of pool are in 9 ball. What isn't to love?

???

It seems to me like your more sick of handicapped tourneys with under-ranked players not nine ball in general. Nothin's wrong with nine ball.

Snooker on a 9 foot table is like 3 cushion billiards on a bar box. Something doesn't feel right and you scratch far more often.

So it will feel very familiar to American pool players, as opposed to playing on all that acreage of a 6 by 12, with those tiny pockets they can't get a ball into on purpose or accidently.:grin::grin:

nope you're right. i am not that good at it. and ya know what when i watch people who are fu*kin' great at it......i still think it reminds me of old people f*c*ing, it's real slow and i wish someone would break a hip just so there'd be a little excitement. it's just not my favorite. i do play, refence my first post, i feel it's an impotant training aid for all games. you have to learn how to really stroke the cue to get whitey to move where you need him, you get to know the rails very well, your safety play picks up. it's great for a alot of things. i just find it to be boring. even at it's highest level.

that might be the dumbest thing i've heard. bet more than i can aford to loose to make something exciting. yes you're right i will run right down to conyers now find mark gregory spot him 9-6 instead of begging him to sopt me 19-1 and the breaks and bet my rent. you're right i'll probobly be so excited i'll shit myself. hell if you've only got a dollar you can find a gang member and tell him you flip a quarter for ten bucks, bet that gets exciting. the only hole in your theory is that i am still going to think the game sucks.
