Hello all. My name is Ron and I live near Fort Worth. I have several hobbies that take up a lot of my time, but I also have had a pool table in my living room for about 5 years. With all of the bad weather lately I have been getting the urge to take my game to the next level. I don't have a decent cue, and have seen a thread here where people rip on my table. It is an Elephant Balls table but it has Brazilian slate, pure gum rubber cushions and decent felt. You can't help but improve when you have your own table but I need direction and motivation, which I have already found on this forum. Thanks to all that contribute. I look forward to learning and sharing with you all.

All together group"Hi Ron!"
Welcome to the forum, one thing you will learn quickly is that everyone has an opinion on what is good and what is bad and it is only their opinion.I on the other hand am an expert on everything. My real name is Cliff Claven and I can be seen in reruns of "Cheers".;)

I would like to see a pic of the table sometime. I was unaware of a table by elephant balls. Welcome to the forum.

Here are some pics. I am moving to a new house in a few months with a "proper" game room up stairs. So I will be getting a tune up with new cloth! Honest opinions on table welcomed...

Welcome to the AZBilliard family Ron. Enjoy your time here. I'm looking forward to reading your questions, opinions and your contributions to this group.

Welcome aboard!!! You will find a ton of knowledge on here and plenty of help. I am new here but this is the best forum I have ever been on, with guys who really do want to help you improve your game.

Welcome aboard Ron! As a frequent reader and occasional poster, I have found this forum to be entertaining and very helpful to my game and I have improved greatly by trying many (and adopting a few) of the ideas I've read over the last several years.

Regarding your table, it looks like a Chinese import and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it for home practice and enjoying the game. The only possible problem you'll have in the short term is that it may not "hold" the set up under heavy use. That just means you might have to have it adjusted more often. It's also quite possible that it will stay "tuned" for years without a problem.

When you move, get a qualified professional to set it up, and have it rechecked after six months, or if you notice any roll-off or wierd behavior of the pockets or cushions.

Otherwise, read the posts about shooting/aiming and try some of it out. Have fun.

Tom

Thanks for the welcome. Picked a Lucasi Cue - LEL. Not the best cue out there but definitely the best I have ever used. Not to mention that the looks of it make me play better!
