New BCA Rules

Our teams don't travel 1000's of miles to lose or win on the break. I like "rack your own" and making the 8 on the snap you continue to play.....SPF=randyg
 
Just to play devils advocate here. I am not saying I like the 8 on the break to count or not. But in most leagues and league tournaments the breaks are preassigned. Meaning each team or player gets the same number of breaks. So if you get the same number of opportunities to break you have as many chances to make it as your opponent, how can that be wrong?

I totally agree...Now 9-ball i may consider bringing it back up...not 8-ball.
 
OK guys lets just agree that 1/10 would have been a little high for making the 8 on the break. Even for the best breakers I think this is high, I think an average middle of the road league player may only be 1/100.

There is no real answer and we could only come up with one by following stats for a long time. This isn't like poker where I can bet pocket 5's have a better winning percentage than AK heads up. This we know has actual math behind the solution.

I think if you two can ever work out a fun bet it would be great to do, maybe on TAR at the next Bar table event.

Anyway good to see some chat about the rules in this thread that started about that, lol.

2-shay !!! I agree, and imo they should just do away with professional 9-ball tourneys and switch to 10-ball.

Mine too (APA). Oddly enough, in four years of league play in 8-ball, I made the eight on the break ONE time, and I SCRATCHED :mad: !!! What's the odds of THAT happening?

You know, it's like your sole purpose is to try and insult me. There have already been OTHERS come on here and say similar things as me. Jay, not the hardest shot in pool! I'm not way out of line! Talk of the 7 ball is just strange ramble!

If you want me to spell out why I don't like the bet. I won't let you win money at 8% because 8% would still make you wrong. If I approach 10%, I want you to be broke just like I would be broke if you were right about it being the hardest shot in pool. Get it?

Call your NEXT shot 10-ball....now then we will see who is got total control of thier game that way. :thumbup:
