New Cue Makes Ting Or Ping Sound

I don't think this is normal. What say you all? It only happens when hit hard.
Have someone check your ferrule.
Good call on the ferrule, I have heard loose tips make some very strange noises also.
I had a similar thing just recently with a new cue I changed the tip and it is fine now.
I had the same thing happened. I changed the tip and it was ok after that.

It could be a bunch of things, some mentioned above, but you're not being very specific, nor is anyone there to listen to your cue's hit. When I think of "ting" or "ping" it usually refers to the wood. For instance a full ebony nose has a distinctive PING sound that resonates. A ferrule problem usually has a "tick" sound combined with a high pitched vibration. And the bolt/pin problems I've heard tend to have a rattling buzzzz sound.
But a weight bolt or ferrule problem are two very different things from opposite ends of the cue....shouldn't be a problem to figger out. Most importanty, dude! when you shoot your head is right over the center of the cue. You should know exactly where the sound is coming from

I'd also suggest that a sharp sound like *ting* or *ping* only when struck hard could be too thin a tip with a hard ferrule material.
Loose tip or an air pocket in the glue can sometimes make a flat *pop* or *pik* sound.
A rattle or a buzz can be either the handle-forearm connection (bolt or wood threading) but CAN also be in a weight bolt as mentioned (on rarer occasion, one might not have tightened the shaft to the butt all the way...)

One the same note, recently when I hit with either very high or with a lot of english on CB with soft speeds, its makes a 'DZZZ' sound...but not all the time
could it be that the tip is defect or its not properly glued on the whole ferrule surface?
A loose tip poorly glued usually has a "tick" sound from the tip clicking the ferrule when it contacts the cueball. I'd check the ferrule for minute cracks first. Pressure the sides of the ferrule and see if a crack "opens". Hair line cracks fill also, so maybe chalkdust on the ferrule will reveal it. I don't know, this is all a guess. I'd ask a cuemaker.

A simple test to isolate it to the shaft or the butt - Unscrew the cue and hold the shaft vertically, tip down, a few inches over a hard surface like a concrete floor. Let it drop on the ground a few times a listen for the sound it makes. If it still sounds odd it's the tip or ferrule.

I say internal thing going on . ferrule bolt maybe something wasn't glued right or not enough. I think you should send it to the cuemaker and give the guy and or woman a chance to fix the problem

Yep, that too. And it can sound and feel like it's in the shaft somewhere.
Its the tip / ferule making the ping. I guess I wasn't specific in my post. Will send it back in to be checked out.
