New Fastest 147 Break

For claiming "fake", you aren't watching very closely. If you hit play and pause repeatedly, you will see the cue seem to disappear from the screen. That would imply editing. However, if you watch the cb, it is rolling on the the exact same path during that time. Showing no editing. I would say the cue disappeared due to a lighting trick of the camera somehow.
Depends on who is playing.
At 37 seconds there is something a little funny about the video but I think it's a framerate/encoding defect. If you watch the cue ball across the glitch, it seems to move continuously. Is there some other part you think is bogus?

Rubbish, there was no opening break & the balls were spread out pretty nice for him to start potting away. He pretty much beat the ghost in snooker. Still, he does play really well it seems but again it was staged. This was not in competition anyway, Ronnie O' is still the king of snooker. :smile:

Take a very good player and a large number of attempts, and this kind of thing is not all that unlikely.
Also, this is not superseding O'Sullivan's record - Ronnie still holds the fastest 147 in professional play. Ronnie made his 147 on a professionally templated table, with an opponent, in a match - in the World Championship, no less! It was in front of the TV cameras and with £170,000 at stake, with no retries if he missed.
What you see in the video is very impressive, but really not comparable to O'Sullivan's feat. I'd be amazed if the video was doctored. Does anyone think this was his first try? His tenth...?

yes, we didn't see the opening break, thats ok by me. What we saw next was only excellence.

I've seen players do amazing things practicing on club tables, which play much looser than proper tournament pockets. Playing with bigger pockets under very little pressure cant be compared to tournament play.
When I was in Thailand, I watched James Wattana shoot a 147 on the practice table and then do it AGAIN in the very next frame. And he's barely in the top 50 in the world ranking.

So, in other words, snooker is easy? :grin-square:
In other words, you cant compare something done on the practice table to actual tournament play.
(And snooker is a frickin' tough game)
Many very good players make 147s in practice. They'll open the reds on the break by coming off the top cusion and into the pack. Or they might even line the reds up manually. So it's unfair to compare it with a 147 in a match situation. Having said that, it's an impressive clearance and certainly a fast one. What would make it really impressive is if he were to go for it on a live internet stream - with two targets (1 - a 147 in under 5 minutes, 2 - a total clearance if he loses shape on a black). I'm not sure how many attempts would be reasonable though - I've never made a century let alone a total clearance. Anyone here play with players who have made those kind of breaks often?
