Just saying hi to all of you. At age 18 I took a 40 year break from pool for some unknown reason and got back into it about 4 years ago. Only one pool hall in this small Alaskan town. Started out with a McDermot and went to a 62" Meucci Sneaky Pete with Black Dot shaft. It is a very good shooting cue for me. I received my 19 ounce 61" Custom Ebony Huster from Pat Diveney a couple of weeks ago. Very nice cue and I love the hit on the Lakesalvage shaft so much I am having him make me another. It will be 30" long with a 12.5 mm shaft tip with extended taper and a Kamui medium tip. Pat Diveney has proven to be easy to do buisness with, a real gentlemen who does outstanding work.

I like 9 and 10 ball, but most around here like 8 ball. I also like 1 pocket but no one shoots it here. I grew up shooting snooker,3 cushion billiards and playing a game we called "Dirty Pool", reminds me of "golf".

A buddy of mine I worked with got me back into pool. He asked if I shot pool and I said I used to. So I thought I would go shoot with him and kick his butt after I warmed up. Did not happen and I realize now he is probably about an "A" shooter. I did get 3 years of learning from playing with him before he moved back to Michigan.

It is great to be back in the pool game again!

I knew Mark Griffin from Anchorage in about 1965. Him and my brother used to hang out together. I have not seen or talked to him in over 40 years. I remember having a hard time beating him in pool back then. Mark if your out there this is Steve, Craig's younger brother. Sounds like your doing well for your self.

Hey Steve. It has been a few years.
Last I heard (from Chuck Rice) was that you had moved to Homer area- I think. Thinking you and Cece got married and all that.
I remember when we met her at the park at 6th and O street.

Yeah we used to play some at Cue and Cushion (spenard road and 26th) - I still remember the house (duplex) you guys lived in on that curve in Spenard.

Remember Craig's 62 Chevy with the Pontiac 389???

Last I heard from him was 10-12 years ago when he was still with Xerox.

Man, this was a long time ago!

Are you still in Homer?
Randy van Sickle is from that area- posts her as Ak-stick .
He has always had a taste for high end quality cues.

I also remember that you played real good - for a kid. I think you should be about 62??

Good to hear from you. Ce and I moved to Kenai in 1980. Going on 39 years of a good marriage. Craig is still in Anchorage and doing good. I plan on retiring in a couple of years and will try to find your pool hall if I get down to Vegas. I have shot against Randy in a few small Kenai tournaments. He definitely has beautiful cues and is a real gentlemen to shoot pool with. My game is better then ever. Just a bit smarter then I was in the 60's. But, I still make some dumb mistakes. I do want a rematch with you! LOL

Are the mosquitos as big as sparrows up where you're from? I heard that somewhere.

I'm not sure how fond I am of Alaska...it's been hard luck to me.

Four of us quit grade 11 and bought an old car..headed for Alaska.
Two of us were pool players, one was a terrific table tennis player....
...........the fourth one had a driver's license.:rolleyes:

..blew a hole in the motor in Marquette, Michigan....
...the second car didn't make it either.

And I don't like hearing the mosquitoes getting denigrated in this thread.
They're handy for delivering messages when your cell phone is outta range.
...and they've done rescues when the helicopters are short of fuel...
...they're especially good at blood transfusions in the field.

But welcome to AZ, AK...things have been a bit hectic here lately..
..so I hope there aren't 47 of youse guys.:smile:

Hey Steve, glad you saw my message.
I don't have a pool hall though. Have not owned one since selling off the 3 in San Diego about 5-8 years ago.

But am still invovled in pool.

Say hi to Craig and Ce. I remember her as a real sweetheart!
