new high run (42)

the agony of billiards...

I came close to this year's goal of running 50 last night.

I got to 42, but it wasn't clean either. Had to save myself due to poor position at least 4 times and got lucky a few times too. The miss I had on the break ball at 43 was probably a 5% shot, but the only thing I had (very slim cut behind the rack, trying to get something open). I suppose I could have just concentrated on potting the ball and using one of the full rack break shots)

Part of getting close was motivation from a friend of mine recently, but I was also playing by myself, in a dimly lit billiard club and I was the only one there. For some reason, I seem to have trouble concentrating when it is noisy and lots of other people around. I don't own my own table, so I always have to play at public places.

I really find it hard to stay concentrated with others around.

I only have 3 more weeks to go until the end of the year, but I think I can do it...

Congratulations.

three racks is nothing to sneeze at.

Good work! A good run is rarely clean, the fact that you had to make 4 saves should be viewed positively, you made some clutch shots to keep going.

Bummer though, ending a run on a break shot. I always figure that probably cost me close to another whole rack.

Good luck breaking 50!;)

Great going Matt! You can do the 50! wear some small headphones with a mp3 player and block out the noise :)

Congrats! It's funny someone mentioned headphones, I've been seriously considering that lately.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I have some headphones but don't use them that often, usually when just practicing drills.

I'm off to try again :D
