New Joey cue

So much for trying to get used to my new camera, anyway here are some pics of my new Joey Batista Sneaky Pete cue. Purple heat with a buckhorn joint. This cue is an amazing player and I will be using as my main playing cue. I tried several other shafts that I have that match the radial pin design, and the Joey shaft by far was the best. I recommend these cues to anyone looking for a great cue to play with. He even has his name molded into the rubber bumper which I think is a nice touch.

I know it's just a sneaky pete, but it really plays good. I also want to thank Bryan (bnall) for getting me this cue, and Joey for working with us.

I have one very similar to this and it's my daily player too. I believe the joint and shaft collar on mine is sambar staghorn.

Enjoy your new Joey

Good question

did you go with joey's filipino taper?

You know that's a great question. This cue came to me in a round-a-bout way and I didn't work directly with Joey on it. Hopefully Joey will chime in and answer that question. One thing for sure, whatever decisions that were made on the taper really fit my game, and I couldn't have spec'd this cue out better myself.

I actually got addicted to this cue immediately. It took no time at all to get used to, and I didn't want to put it down. I own a lot of cues, but I was unusually excited about this one. I even left a pool hall early Friday from the other side of town, just to make sure I didn't miss the UPS guy. Knowing how few cues Joey makes, and the time that went into this cue, I feel very lucky to get it, and it is the perfect player. The cue-ball does a lot of stuff when you really stroke-it.

Your Joey cue

Nice cue...reminds me of mine.

I knew that you were going to say that. But did you get the rubber bumper with "Joey" molded into it?

The shaft taper on that is the white man's taper. LOL
13MM and gets to about 14.25MM after about a foot.

As much as I love those shafts, they are getting harder to get.
The "common market" really white shafts are pretty easy to avail.
The yellowish tight-grain ones are getting tougher to get.
I only have one source for those kind of shafts now and he hates cueamakers. He'd rather deal with furniture makers . Who can blame him?
The bumpers are laser etched. I dunno if I'm the first one to have them done that way. I know some get them engraved or molded.
Thank you for your support. Good hustlin'. :)

I would love to try a Filipino tapered shaft just to see what us white guys are missing out on. I can tell you that this taper is great and I get a lot of accuracy, draw, and spin with this cue. You definitely have a special gift for building great playing cues. I could sell off 120-cues and keep this one and be perfectly happy. I have always liked the playability of purple heart sneaky pete cues, but sold them for one reason or another. This one will not be sold. I also like the fatter butt, the cue just feels great.

I forgot to ask what exactly is the pin made of. I like the radial thread design, but the material is different than the G10 pins. It looks like some kind of space-age plastic.

yes. Your cue and mine were delivered in the same box I unless Joey shipped it direct to you.

Thanks Ted. That means a ton to me who does this for the love of making cues.
I'm building Bogey and Banta1 purpleheart sneakies now too and they too will be players' delight.
That pin is a black G10. It looks a little different because I coat it with oil b/c they are ugly when they are whitesh/gray.

I wish I had thought of that when I was taking pics. I will post something showing the shaft later tonight when I get home.

Thanks
