New line of OB cues

risky biz

Any rumors about this?

Now they're calling the Joss-produced butts the "J line".

Is the new line going to be just an in-house version with new styling or will there be some changes in the basic technology?

With any luck they'll do some plane jane style cues with rings and a 3/8-10 pin as an option.

i really think most cue companies would be surprised how many cues they'd sell if they offered classy plane jane cues in black (stained SGM or ebony) and BEM with flat faced 3/8-10 pins.

Look how well the P2 did back in the day. you couldn't spit in a pool room without hitting 2 people that had one and one that was talking about buying one!!!! (lol i was one of those guys). really who on here wouldn't buy an all black OB cue with a white butt cap and white phenolic joint and a OB classic with a wood to wood joint? the OB guys wouldn't be able to make 'em fast enough

Yes we are working on a new line of cues. Not to replace our current J-Line, but to add to the line up.

We've actually built and sold a few of these, and the feedback has been very good. We're working out the production details now. Our shop is very efficient at building our cue shafts, but cues are a little different. We want to make sure we are building cues that meet our standards before we start to sell them.

The entry model will be almost exactly what you're talking about poolplayer. It's all stained maple (black) with rings at A,B,C,D,E. We have a black joint and butt cap though instead of your white. We're still working on the pin. It'll be a big pin like a 3/8-10, but maybe a little different. Both wrapped and wrap less models are in the plan.

We've done some work on our core as well. It's just maple, but the way it's assembled creates a cue handle that's extremely strong and stable. Our core not only makes a cue with better feel, but one that should last too.

We've incorporated this new core into our J-Line as well. We've also reduced the prices on the J-line. Go to our new website, www.obcues.com and see. There are some great buys! The site is very new, and we're just now getting all our dealers logged in, and up to date on the new cues pricing. We should have all the new prices all rolled out to our dealers by the end of the week.

Thanks

sounds exciting royce...personally i like wrapless cues, glad to see that you'll have some of those. would you consider using a radial pin for the joint?

OMG this is the coolest thing i've ever heard. you have no idea how happy this makes me. i've really gotta get one of your new cues! i love plane cues like the P2 or the OB Break cue you guys offer. cues that are all go and no show!

Offering a great product that look and play the way pool players really want is what's making you guys a step above the rest! Made in the U.S. and way better customer service than predator! You're my hero

i saw that you had the full splice cues listed on the new website too...i would like to see some wrapless full splice cues with veneers!

McChen

Unfortunately, the full splice cues will not have veneers. They're nice cues, but simple. Priced around $350.00, I think they will be popular. I would love to build some with veneers, but the cost is much higher, and I'm just not sure there is a big enough market for them. If we build them with veneers, they could easily be $750 to $1000.

Poolplayer

We're looking at the $350.00 to $400.00 range depending on the woods, wrap, etc.

Of course, that will be with your choice of OB cue shaft, even the break shaft.

It'll be a big pin like a 3/8-10, but maybe a little different.

Why would you make it a little different .?? We have enough Basterd pins . !!!!

Jim

Definitely not a Bastard pin!

Trust me, I know more about all those pins than anybody!

Right now, the cues we've made are with the standard 3/8-10 screw. I'm working on something that looks a little different, enhances payability, but still uses a standard thread size and pitch. If it works out, good. If not, then we'll just use the 3/8-10 most likely.

Glad to hear you are thinking about a 3/8-10 joint. Definitely my favorite joint pin type!

Look forward to their release.

I do agree that 3/8x10 is the best and most suitable pin. I am looking for a new ob1-shaft with that pin (have an ob1 with uniloc on my player), but I am not sure whether I should wait for the new cues to have both butt and shaft.

Any rumours about release time?
