Welcome aboard Ron.

Should be very exciting having you on the forums and I'm curious to see what you bring to these boards.

Welcome to the forums :)
Very cool stuff you posted up there, clearly you know the game well  Competing with the likes of Reyes, now im jealous :embarrassed2:
Cant wait to hear more from you, Im sure you have some good insights about the game and equipment involved in it

Speaking of equipment, what do you play with yourself?

Right now I am playing with an early OB J-line Butt (made by Joss) and a Tiger Pro-x Shaft with an Onyx tip.
My break is a Tiger Icebreaker.

Old school kinda cool.....welcome aboard glad you joined. What a beast you were "back in the day"..lol

I have tried CTE and found it varies with the shaft I use.

Welcome!

How do you feel about CTE aiming systems?

lol - just kidding...

I have tried CTE and found it varies with the shaft I use.
The was I understand it at least and found using a 11.75 dia. tip it was very near on.
Wider tips where hard for me to judge, I know many who swear by it. I geuss you can't teach an old dog new tricks,

A big "welcome" to you Ron. Watched you a bunch of time at Hard Times and other rooms as well as the Bicycle Club in Bell Gardens. At one time you played with the prettiest Schon I had ever seen. Nice to see you posting as you were a strong player in an era of real strong players. You were intense.

Those of you from So. Calif should check the list that Ron posted of run outs after a good break. Top of the list is none other than Danny Kuykendall of Danny K's in Orange County.

I'd say that you got the hang of it pretty well. I'll take this name tag back

Welcome to the forums, Ron!

Definitely one of the strongest players ever to come out of So Cal.

Maybe Jay Helfert has some stories?

It was an art form to pick a good tip, thank goodness I had lots of cue-makers in the area to help out,
Ernie, Burt Schrager the Valley was the place to be for playing and equiptment in the 70's & 80's. I was never a equiptment buff. I could shape a good house cue and play just fine. I do play with a Low Squirt shaft now and a Layered tip, but there effets on the over all game are very minimal. But I'm sure now a days it could give a player an edge over another player. But Skills, cue stick control, mechanics and fundamentals are what win matches.

Welcome to the forum. Good to see another California player here. I would love to hear some war stories from your travels in California. Did you ever play Tracy Joe?

Ronnie, Swanee, and the Earl

Hey Ron,

Love those pics of you with Earl and Swanee... pretty strong company to hang with!

I think Accustats should have some of your old matches on video somewhere.

I might have some shots of you guys back in the day... I'll check my archives.

So awesome to see you here. I remember when I started getting serious about pool, you and Tang were winning all the so cal events. That must have been in the early nineties.

When in Burbank I usually play at Fantasia on San Fernando.
Next time I'm visiting there I'll swIng by Million Dollar Billiards.

Welcome to the forums Ron!

Just in case your fellow pros/peers have not informed you about our lovely little community let me give you a introduction.

AZBilliards is a great place full of fans of the sport. We are a tight nit community of Satan worshipers and welcome all who wish to partake in discussion about this sport we all love.

On the NPR you can enjoy some discussion about less pool related topics, some of my favorites are the discussions of the benefits of anarchy, how to keep minorities down, and of course the ever popular "how to cook babies" recipe thread where there are countless mouth watering additions.

There are a few rules you probably need to be aware of.

1) SVB is the greatest pool player to ever live. If you say otherwise you are wrong.

2) CTE is the key to success in pool, even you yourself used it, you jus might not have been aware.

3) Pros are welcome, but you must also follow the rules here just like anyone else. Johnny Archer used to post here but one time he went on the "how to cook babies thread" and added a recipe that did "not" include bacon... The flashback was tremendous, he was raked through the coals and ostracized and we have not seen him back since. He has been known to post on other social media sites about how cruel his experience was... but no bacon? WTF Johnny...

Anyhow enjoy posting on the forum, great to have you!

Welcome Ron!!! Looking forward to your posts.

A couple questions for you:

1. What is your favorite cue?
2. What is your favorite type of table to play on?
