New National Tour-who's behind it?

So who is starting this new national tour? Does he/she have money behind them. How much added money? I thought Oscar D had Vegas pretty much covered. It would be nice to see a National tour for male and female U.S player only...no green cards. Johnnyt

Ya know JT the more I think about it I think the more I'm with you on this. I think if this does actually turn out to be a " real tour " maybe they should only allow US citizens. Id still have 5 or 6 big events each year that are true opens like DCC, US OPEN etc but leave the " tour " for citizens for a few reasons.

I hate to say it but truthfully on average our US players are just truly not on par with most of the rest of the world. If everyone that says how they would like pro players to be able to make more money in this sport, be able to support themselves in a legitimate way from playing pool then this would for sure help them in that aspect. This may sound a little rough but I also would like to see more of the US currency STAY IN THE US - I am referencing pool right now but I mean that in general too.

Lastly, I think if you took foreign players out of the equation it would ultimately help with the Mosconi selection too. It's unknown exactly how it would affect those standings but I do believe it would a more accurate depiction of what our team should look like. Think about it like this, if we had our team members ( prospects ) routinely competing against one another rather than some ( most ) being knocked out early by EUROS or whomever we would get a much better idea who truly is better or more deserving . Just an idear.

If non U.S citizens are allowed to play in these open events, they should have to pay one and a half times the regular fee. Johnnyt

What? US citizens only??? Why?

First, I doubt this tour will go anywhere, but lets pretend it did grow into a national tour with all the women and men playing under a unified umbrella with an actual structure and a schedule and rules and payouts.

Why in the world would you limit international players? Imagine if Efren was not allowed to play? That right there would cost you half the gate of paying spectators. Fans want to watch the best players, and of those, the ones who are also the most exciting. In today's pro players, those guys would be Efren, Alex, Shane, Jayson Shaw, Appleton. Maybe Skylar, Dechaine, and Bergman as of the past 2 or 3 years. To not allow international players to play you'd be taking away half (or more) of the pros that the fans come to watch!

Imagine Jay's Bigfoot event at Derby with only players that are US citizens. You would not be able to fill the stands if you paid the fans to watch!

Oh shit..... Women organizing pro pool..... This is gonna need a whole box of baby wipes....

Sorry for my rude language but all of you know which direction this pro pool operation lead by women is headed...

Geez...., Sexist much?

Why would you automatically think this is doomed just because women are organizing this? Could it be because the men have done so much better???

How about some freakin' optimism?????? I think starting with the women's tour is smart. Gives a chance to learn and determine viability on a smaller scale.

I wish them the best of luck.

Women on average multi-task better than men. But I see a problem before it starts. Too many chiefs. Johnnyt

That's hilarious. The insignificant amount of scratch wouldn't raise a blip on any radar. That said, why would you limit the field to US only? Wouldn't you rather see the huge influx of money coming into our US based industry from anywhere possible? Hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops could go bust, just because you want to limit the field. OK, sorry, that was sarcasm.

If any league would be US only, it would be like the NBA's D-league except I think it would have lead wings.

Great idea to build a wall to keep the illegals out of our pool tour. The last thing we want is to challenge american players with international competition.

Is this going to conflict with the WPBA tour? I know they have barred professional female players on their tour from competing in conflicting events in the past, i.e.Jasmin Ouschan

It does indeed conflict with WPBA players and tours. Allegedly this conflict is part of the reason for the formation of the NAPT.

Rumor has it, ( not verified) WPBA wanted Vivians event to be sanctioned in order to allow female pros to play in it. Which means paying the sanctioning fee. She refused. Now she is somehow banned from playing in the u.s. open. ???

I need to ask her what's up with that and what really happened

The WPBA is still holding Players hostage while putting on 4 events in the last 4 years? You can't hold players hostage when you have no tour for them to make a living on.!

Don't forget the tampons, Midol and chocolate!

Seriously though good luck to these ladies and their tour. Hopefully they have some success with it.

Maybe this is an attempt to finally bury the WPBA and send that colossal f@ck up packing.
You know.
Stop giving them money/paying dues/sanctioning fees.

Conflicting with them all the time so that they struggle to fill their ranks, and destroy what is left of their product.

I mean, part of me kind of likes that.
WPBA is just a turd floating in the toilet at this point.
Maybe it's about time they get flushed.

That way, the pool phoenix can rise from the ashes, the toilet cleaned...waiting for the next chapter in pool to take a dump in it.

But in all seriousness.
I wish them luck with it.
Can't possibly be any worse that what the pro ladies have going on right now. So that's a good thing.
Fresh start.

However it needs to separate pro's from am's ,,

Bingo! We need a pro tour and an am tour not hybrids
Pros should weaned away from dead money :D

Correct correct. I think it may be worse - too many chefs not chiefs :)

This tour may be labelled "unChristian"

How can it conflict when they only have one 1 event a year lol?

No wonder pool is in trouble with so many misogynistic and xenophobic guys who just love to shot holes in what other people are trying to do to promote the sport while sitting back, guzzling their beer and doing not a damn thing themselves.

What a sad sad thread.
