New Pool Hall, need a good table mechanic

ftgokie, in what town is your room to be located. Be a long drive for me unless it's in NE OK, but it sounds like it might be worth the trip. I could get the word out in Springfield and Joplin, MO.

Don't lose that snooker table!!

Best of luck with the new room!

Muskogee Okla. 40min south of Tulsa

Thanks Joey, Yes, calcuttas will be allowed. I think it would be neat to even do an internet Calcutta....There will be wifi installed and going to get some new equipment so we can live stream for tournaments. I dont know anything about the live stream bit, but I want enough equipment to be able to live stream at least 2 tables. Thats just something I have to work on getting up and running.

For the LIve Stream, you may want to call it a "PLAYER AUCTION", fwiw. It could be fun to have such a thing. The famous Norwegian Roy S, talked about such a thing a while back and I don't know if he made any progress on the format.

You would have to have a Pay Pal system or similar or otherwise the trolls would be using air dollars to win real dollars from others who pay.

Yea, I agree Joey, it was just a thought I had, maybe it is or is not something we could do. But, I wouldnt like Air Dollars, I think I will make a sign that Bans that tye of "illegal" activity

Should be finalizing the deal on a new pool room in the next 2 weeks. As of right now, 10 Valley bar box, 8 Gold Crowns, 1 old Brunswick 10’ Snooker table. I am wanting to put 10 more Diamond Bar box in to have some variety.

I am going to contact Shane “cuephoric” here on AZB to come in to set the GC up right, but if I cant get him, who is the absolute best to redo these tables. I want this person to come in and if need be, go over each and every table to make sure they are all 100%.

Anyone have any ideas if Shane can’t do it?

Thanks everyone
Shawn

My advice is that instead of adding 10 more Diamonds to the already 10 Valley table...is to talk to me about trading in the Valleys for 10 more Diamonds giving you a total of 20 Diamonds instead. Diamond has a no excuse program to finance the tables, and I can talk to them about trade-ins. As far as the GC's go, the cost of putting a new saddle on a dead horse is no fun if you can't ride the horse too, I'll see what I can do about trading in the GC's as well. Diamond don't normally take trade ins, but I have enough pull with Diamond that I can get something worked out with you to put your best foot forward in your area with pool tables for the customers.

No offense to you Sherm, but I have heard from another mechanic that has had to go back and fix some of Dave's work, that it's pretty hack worthy.

Kelly

There's a great table mechanic here in Cincinnnati. His name is Dave Thompson with A+ Some Assembly Required! (513)258-6411 I've worked with him in the past on some projects and we've become very good friends. I highly recommend him and his work! If you decide to call him, tell him Sherm sent you and I'm sure he'll treat you like family. Good Luck with your room. You have a huge set of rocks to enter the business during these tough times, but hopefully you'll be in on the upswing!

I have Shane and Glenns numbers. I will be giving these guys a call. I appreciate everyones input and I am sure everyone mentioned are good mechanics. I will talk to these 2 guys and see what we can come up with...

If you are still looking: Jack Shurtz is working on Magoo's tables this week. Come up and see what he can do for you. Good guy and very good work.

Shawn -

First off, congratulations! Glad there will be one more pool hall in the area.

If you want to see some of Shane's work, check out the recent work at the Q-Spot. I think he still has some finishing up to do, but the tables look and play nice.

Let us know when you plan to have your grand opening. We'd like to come to that.

As for the Diamonds vs. Valleys, I prefer the Valleys, but the Diamonds are nice, too. However, if you have some of both, you make a lot more people happy. Last I knew, there were a lot more Valley tables around here than Diamonds, anyway. Some folks are really picky about what table they play on. I don't care all that much. If it doesn't roll off, it's good by me.

Will your place be a bar, or a family pool hall? Smoking or non-smoking? Did I miss that?

There will be no alcohol or smoking in the pool hall. Will probably build a smoke shack outside that has heat and air for the smokers to go outside to slowly kill themselves.

Congrats on the pool room, sounds freaking sweet.....when my back heals, I gotta get up there and check it out....

I'm sure Shane would do a total kickbutt job.....hope you give him a shot.....(not knocking anyone else btw, Shane is my boy)
