Based on the sheer volume of questions he asked here, I bet the book wouldn't be half bad. He annoyed me when he was here, now that he is gone I miss his endless questions. "There is no such thing as a stupid question", will be a phrase I always associate with him.

I would not be so sure that Justinb386 is gone:wink:

I've known Dean a long time and all this negative talk is aggravating him.
If it doesn't stop he may INCREASE his prices again. Now I know that it
may not matter to some people but , others might not be able to afford it.
I have to admit when I read about those beginners losing money it hit a
nerve, and I wrote things I shouldn't have, but when Dean explained to me
it's not his fault they're beginners, they should have started playing
sooner and they wouldn't be beginners now, I understood. I just want to
say, and I know I speak for a lot of AZers we're sorry.
jack

I'm fine with a price increase, just as long as Dean doesn't threaten to take these cues to Ebay.
Now that would really sting

Now I feel better
Jack has apologized

I am going to send Jack another loaner

I have these special Mc Dermotts that play so good

Of course once Jack gets involved there will be a
timely cost of living increase

Clear heads have prevailed once again

Monday I will be shipping out two cues one to Hawaiian Eye and one to Jackpot

Everyone wins on Az

I still have a cue with Billy Incadone signature for only $200

I paid $500 for a baseball Joe Di Maggio signed

Billy could easily give him the 5 and the break ,easily
So PM now, imagine this on your fireplace mantle

Live a little you tightwads

or forever hold your peace

Dean has fun with the site, like a hobby. He obviously enjoys buying and trying cues and tables and flipping them for someone else's pleasure. To my knowledge, no one's ever gotten anything less than a good deal from him. He means well for sure and has never been a negative presence on here.

Thanks for posting what was on my mind as well.

I'm sure they play better than a Pechauer, but the ones I used at a resort in Carefree, Arizona were all falling apart, total crap.
I've actually had phone calls about this issue, and the concern is that new buyers will buy one of these overpriced imports thinking they are getting a real McDermott cue.
I told people to forget it, don't hijack the thread, but here I am.

In 2012 when my team won the regional VNEA team tournament on the last day one of the sales booths was selling out their McDermott Lucky cues for 50% off, $40 total.
We all bought one.
Then I noticed on the factory sticker it said $39
I looked on Ebay and sure enough, the same cue was $39 SHIPPED.

I've had to scrape people off the ceiling over this Star McDermott cue deal

I've talked to several people on here who sell cues and supplies that wanted me to pay double what I could get them online for.

Every production cue that you buy is retailed for quadruple the actual cost it is sold for from the factory. When I lived in Taiwan, I could have bought a ton of them for next to nothing at the time. I lived there for three years and didn't buy a single cue. I played with a house cue. My friend used to buy them by the thousands and have them shipped to the US, where they were sold by Sears and other big retail stores.

Even custom cues are overpriced in a lot of cases. If you make a "basic" cue with no ornamentation, you can buy the best wood and materials in the world and not have $100 invested in the parts in many cases. Some of those cues are then sold for thousands of dollars. More power to the maker, if he can get somebody to pay that for them.

I'll be trying one of these cues out soon and I'll review it.

I haven't seen or played with one, so I'll hold my judgement for now.

A room owner in Denver started Fierce Eagle cues, sold in pool halls all over.
Many of the 2-piece house cues wth names on them like Dave & Buster's were Fierce Eagle cues.
Our of a plant in China he bought thousands at a time for 6-8 dollars and the retail price was $99.
The early cues were pretty good quality but they kept getting worse and worse.

You still see the Fierce Eagle cue cabinets on walls in bars and pool halls around Denver.
Danny had a salesman and everything.
I guess anyone who wants to invest 25 grand could have their own line of cues.

The fact that you are digging in on these import McDermott cues is just strange. You are a classy individual, dying on the hill of "Kmart cue" is just unbecoming.

I'm definitely not a tightwad, but why would you continue to fight over what is perceived by most on this site as a terrible value

i bought one
i liked it,i played some $400 pr game with it
I bought some ferrules because i liked it

An AZ member sent me 5 more cues
he spoke highly of them

I might have over paid ,I don't see cues under $100 very often

I offered to sell them until someone told me
they were not worth my price

I withdrew them, now I am giving some of them away

OK

Jackpot got 3 of these cues and said they are nice cues, one is kinda ugly

the other 2 look nice enough and play good enough

hit pretty good

all of the screaming about these cues being junk is nonsense
For a guy wanting a cue around $$100 or $200 you would have a good buy

I kept the ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPER CUE TO play

because it looks the best

they are selling cheap on ebay if you want to see one or buy one on there

These are really pretty decent,I might buy some more of the orange county chopper ones just to have

I got my Schon Tribute back and I am playing with it ,but if
I ever get beat and have to sell
i have a great back up for next to no money
