New Project: TAR Player Portraits

I miss shooting stills and have been wanting to start playing with portrait work so I decided it would be a fun project to start shooting all the players who come through for our matches. So often we only see shots of them around a pool table and I wanted to do something different.

I started tonight.

I hope to get better and build up an interesting collection of portraits. Should be fun.

Justin,

These are great. Once you have a handful of these, would you be willing to sell the high res image files so I could have large high quality prints made?

Thanks,
Ian

Nice work! Are you thinking about putting up a TAR "Wall of Fame" at the studio? There could be small plaques underneath the photos with each player's record and winnings. But I digress...

Looking forward to this weekend's match!

All the best,

Brian

Very nice portraits, hopefully someday on the cover of TIME . What kind of camera are you using?

Noice...

Personally I'm hoping for a complete set of TAR "baseball cards" from each year, with stats etc.

Nikon D7000 body on all three. Ronnie was shot with a Nikon 24-70/2.8. Jayson and Daz were shot with a Nikon 70-200/2.8. Ronnie was just lit with one light and the other two used a light in front off to the left and a hair light above and behind.

I'll keep playing with it. The goal is to come up with a different look at the players in TAR matches.

Thats a cool idea.

I got the idea for doing this from the UFC. On the walls of the training facility they have shots of fighters after they just got out of the ring. Just their faces in various forms of damage. That planted the seed of doing something similar with TAR players. Without the blood and broken teeth obviously.

Possibly. I usually dont let high res images out into the wild. Just a habit. We'll see what comes of it in the future I guess.

I'm digging the B&W. It never gets old and it's never cliche', in my humble opinion.

Not to open a can of worms or anything, but this is the kinda stuff the industry needs--Personalities. People need something to relate to and get behind besides balls going into pockets. This encourages that.

Awesome stuff, Justin :)

Nice Equipment

Now all you need to complete the Trinity, is my Nikon 14-24 mm f 2.8.
You can get the whole table, standing right next to it.

Nik Silver Efex Pro and On One's Perfect Black and White are great for making BW Portraits.

Very Nice Photographs, JCIN :bow-down:
