K, thnx.RDCustomCues said:Joey if your wanting to do that could you get one of the taig dovetails get a taig head stock and tail stock and add a motor I have just about all the parts to make a fixed gantry for tapering. Its on hold till I get my primary cnc completed.
qbilder said:Joey, I have tried using the long dovetail bed to make a taper machine, but the aluminim beds are too fragile & flexy, IMO. I'd like to find a hardened steel bed to fit taig type parts, though!!! That would be a bed. I wouldn't mind paying a good dime for it, either.
I bought some linear rails & bearings & rests. They are sturdy & super smooth. I think for a continuous back & forth operation like tapering would be cheese with these things. All I need now is a leadscrew. I'll be using taig parts for everything else.
