New TIGER CUES/SHAFTS question

Does anyone play with the new TIGER cues/low-deflection shaft? How does it compare to a Predator 314. I absolutely love the look of their higher end cues (especially Orcollos). Seems like a lot of cue for the asking price. Very tempted, but wanted some feedback. Especially if you used a Predator for YEARS and made the switch. I've been using a Predator 314 since....forever. Thanks!

Tiger has a more solid feel much like a regular shaft but without the deflection. I use a pro and used to use a Z.
Excellent build quality too.

Tiger's have a solid core construction so hit is not sacrificed. The low-squirt effect is comparable to the other offerings in the "low-deflection" community.

I have everything Tiger for sale at competative pricing. PM me if/when you are ready to purchase.

I've shot with one I'd take one over a predator but me my self use ob but between the two the pred or tiger I'd go with tiger

I've used a 314 for many years and tried out a tiger shaft for a week or so about a year ago. I didn't have any problems with it, but found nothing compelling either.

Matt,

Just make sure it's the "LD" shaft, which plays similar to the 314-2.

There's a lot of confusion because they didn't give up the 'Ultra X" name. They still make the higher squirt version for players who prefer a laminated conventional shaft.

The Ultra LD is very well finished, plays pretty solid, weighs about the same as a Predator (3.5 - 3.7 ounces) and had similar dimensions. They are not hollow.

I prefer the Pro X because I've migrated to the small tip, but I used to play with a 314 and I think the LD is pretty close to the same but a better wood and overall quality in my opinion - plus it feels like a solid shaft.

In general Tiger cues play fine - I like them. If you get the right tip you'll like it. Corey will give you a good deal.

Chris

Ps. smart move staying in the service!

Hi Chris,

I've been using the same cue for years and I like it --- but I've had the itch to try something new and the Tiger cues look extremely attractive to me. I would definitely want the shaft that is comparable to the 314 because that is the shaft I'm so used to and really like.

Hey, I still have the book you gifted me "years" ago! Can you believe I just hit 15 years in service? Thanks for the information. I will definitely hit up Crown City Corey if the itch gets too unbearable and I have to scratch it.

Best,
Matt

I highly recommend Corey. Great guy to work with.

I can only tell you about the x-pro. I love it so much that I just got another one because I loved the hit on my old x-pro that I wore it out. I need to get another one to have it as a reserve.

I have a TC-3 that i cannot get used to. Unfortunately i'm too use to the Predator shafts. I started with a 314 about 10 years ago and love the Z-2 shaft now. Both my Z-2s were made from KJ (seyberts) and he took out the phenolic insert to give it more feel. I thought i'd like the Tiger Shafts for the feel. Its just not my cup of tea.

Let me know if anyone is interested in buying it. Shot about 10 9-ball racks in an hour with it. Comes with the U;tra LD 29" shaft.

PM me if you're interested. Will give a great deal.

So when is your retirement date?

In most cases you can have Tiger adapt your Predator to their handle in case you don't like the Tiger shaft - depends on the joint.

It always takes me a little time to adapt to anything new at all. Once you do adapt, the old stuff feels funny.

Can you tell us how low-squirt is achieved in the LD Tiger shafts? I'm guessing some kind of lightweight ferrule + plug like balsa.

Retirement? And get a real job? I'll do 15 more if they let me. I'm having too much fun.

You're right, it does take time to adapt. Definitely.

I have a TC-7, with the LD shaft. It is the only shaft I like better then my old pre-cat 314. You will not be dissapointed.

PM sent.
Thanks,
Jon
