New Varney with very, very curly handle.

This is a 4pt bocote into BEM cue I recently completed. The handle is a very unique piece of Anigre that was given to me by my good friend Kenny Koo...thank you Kenny.;) Looks a lot like curly maple but much more figure. The plain black collars & buttcap were requested by the owner...kind of lets the beauty of the wood speak for itself. You will also notice a semi-longer butt sleeve. As ordered by the owner...the handle was moved forward a bit on this cue as the owner prefers a somewhat high grip. The owner is very pleased with his new custom Varney.:) Thanks to all for looking.

If you didn't know better, you would probably think the cue has a light colored stacked leather wrap from a distance. This is one of the rare examples that I think a cue was ruined aesthetically by points. I would love to see the same woods with the curly wood as the butt sleeve and forearm, and the bacote as the handle, with some really simple ringwork.

I don't want this to sound like I don't like your work. Your execution is really nice, and I think you have done a really nice job of giving the customer what he/she wants, which is, after all, you job! Nice cue that I am really sure is a great player, but just not for me, and I am not normally a wrapless cue guy, but the woods in this cue are phenominal.

That is an excellent cue you got there budy.
Its not mine any longer Kenny...but the new owner & I do thank you for the handle wood.:) Ultra sweet wood selection from "Koo's house of premium exotic woods".:D

Good Job buddy. Bocote is a tough wood.....it looks like crap most of the time but if you get just the right piece that contrasts well within the grain it comes out beautifully. I love it.

Expensive wood

what kind of finish is that?is it your normal finish?
That is my very popular satin finish...like on my j/b cues & hustlers. The owner has several other of my cues and liked that finish & ordered it on that cue. Typically on cues that nice it would receive an auto clear which is much thicker with a higher gloss. I find that many players don't like the thick auto clear and prefer the old school satin. Buyers choice though. ;)
