This one has commentary from Danny and me. Danny was sitting a little close to his microphone, so unfortunately his voice is... loud. Sorry - we're still learning.

Once we get up and running with the new venture (another month or so), we'll be able to get the quality of the videos up even more. In the meantime, I think we've come a long way. Hope you enjoy.

Great job stevie !

i was wondering when you were gonna treat us to some more great shooting.

Keep it up
Steve

Awesome video, Steve. Thanks again to you and Danny for spending your free time putting these together for all of AZ to see.

When can we expect to see a 300 from you?

Brian, if you are asking when Steve will run 300 I would have to say soon but if your asking me when 300 will be I would have to say somtime in 2256 when I turn 300.

Sooooo then what you're really saying is that I can expect that video in my hands on.... hmmm, let's say.... next week? Thanks Danny. I knew I could count on you.

Oh great. Here's another morning of me not getting shit done at work.

*Secretary, yes... it's me.... please hold my calls through lunch...Thanks.*

Nice out on the first rack. Your speed getting to the key ball was good - I tend to dog it and leave it short a lot on those.

Awesome video so far...

I just watched the video entitled "nice frame" with Danny shooting. First of all, super out. Second of all, I notice that Danny and Steve have a way of striking the OBs that is very short and controlled. It's making me realize I'm playing 14.1 with a 9-ball stroke more and more after watching these videos.

I can't wait to get the hell out of work and try this. I definitely throw haymakers instead of short jabs regarding my 14.1 stroke. I like the little "taps to position."

I can't wait to experiment.

Thanks for these.... it's like going to school.

You know, i have to say that i really enjoyed Danny's little talk about rolling balls in, and the ability to roll balls in the hole.

I also envy you guys. Cause i know a lot of times when i dribble a ball, i watch as it rolls right out of the pocket.

Like today for example, i started off running the first 2 racks pretty much without incident up till the key ball at the end of the second rack, but got just a hair off line. A perfect time to roll the ball, which i actually am very good at.

So i rolled the ball and held whitey perfectly, and watched as the object ball rolled off by about an inch and a half, hit the rail, and i was basically disgusted after that. It just sucked the enthusiasm right out of me.

I HATE tables that roll off.

I have been getting too many balls kicked at slow speed. Drives me crazy! I guess a ball cleaner is needed for this game. Balls hit and sound like they are under water.

I had a good time watching and listening to the match. I actually think that Danny's microphone was fine and Steve's was a little quiet.

I think the most important thing in the commentary for me was about 43 minutes in when Steve mentioned from the position that he was in that he had better have a plan for a secondary break shot before he starts shooting. I am guilty of that sometimes and it's a great reminder.

I look forward to more of these but I hope I play more and watch less. Always.

It took me a while to get around to watching this because I had too much other stuff I hadn't finished. what a nice problem to have.

Very nice run and good commentary on the run itself and talking about what you need to do to play straight pool right.

I look forward to the next one.

When i saw danny, danny........................

Steve, thanks for the video's and if you get to selling 14.1 stuff put me down as a buyer. Danny Barouty was great as usual with his pathetic sense of "humor". Who was the other Danny? Harriman? I am coupling people who bought Harriman's 280 ball run and sent me receipts which I will form a suit to protect class acts like you and Danny B.

Reputable people like you, Justin, Fast Lenny, Accustats, etc............. could be hurt by people like Harriman who makes no effort to deliver the tapes we paid for. He may anticipate a visit from me if he attends the Super Billiard Expo not to argue but to hand him the receipts so I can report he has received them; we want our tapes more than the money.

Send me anything you gents sell as I know I will receive the purchased item.

Microphone presence

I agree, Chris. Danny's microphone "presence" was quite good; he was crystal clear, except for a few times when he was "popping his 'p's" :D because he had the microphone directly in front of his mouth, catching the aspirations of the "p" sounds. (Danny, if you're reading this, if you don't mind a humble suggestion from someone that's done a lifetime's worth of public speaking and presentations, I'd recommend that you not hold the microphone directly in front of your mouth, but rather underneath it [i.e. speak "over" the microphone], or off to the side [i.e. let the microphone pick up the sound waves "as they're passing by"]. That's also why, by the way, when you see inside pictures of a radio broadcaster's booth, that any desk microphones are not directly in front of where the person sits, but rather are pointed diagonally inward towards the person.)

Steve's voice, on the other hand, sounded quite low in volume, and for a lack of a better term, "gargle-y". (Although that might be due to the microphone picking up certain tonal characteristics in his voice due to the low volume of his voice, or the fact the microphone was too far away, or something along these lines. Steve, if you're reading this, you might want to move the microphone closer to your mouth, and off to the side a bit so as not to catch the aspirations of certain hard-sounding consonants [the "p" sound being a good example].)

However, 'twas a good job nonetheless by these straight pool titans. I really enjoyed watching the straight pool patterns and the commentary.

I'll have to make it down to Amsterdam Billiards one of these evenings.

I just watched this and enjoyed it quite a bit. I can't wait to see more.

I think there's some really valuable stuff in it. I'd heard players say they like the 2 rail position just before the break ball... but usually that's when you e.g. cut a ball in the standard break shot position on the left side to get shape for a standard break on the right. The 2 rail shape Steve loves is making a cut along the short rail.

I also was interested to hear that you really don't want to fool with the behind the rack rail cut break. I knew it was not as good as the others, but now that I get how much can go wrong I can see it's actually just plain bad.

I also feel like kinda directionless when faced with a pretty open rack and now I kind of see the idea a little better... attack every problem as early as possible, then get everything off the rail so that the final few shots are sorta "interior" and not too far from the rack area.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm trying to incorporate it all into the new stuff.

Creedo, I love that keyball. It's unbelievably easy, and when the object ball is just slightly off the rail, you have so much leeway with it. Adjusting the inside english as necessary results in a very predictable and repeatable path.

Sorry I've been a little absent from the forum... work has gotten very busy lately. Not complaining, I know it's brutal out there. But I'll try to post a game situation soon.
