I know things like this have been beat to death, so please forgive me... But I'm unable to find anything that addresses my specific topic...
I'm looking for a new weapon... I know what I like may not be what you like... However... The makers I'm considering are James White, Bob Dzuricky (DZ Cues), and Chris Nitti. The James White is used. I'm looking for feedback on any of these makers. Hit vs hit, etc... I've played with James White, Shawn Putnam, and Danny Tibbits... I like those hits. I'm looking for a player, not a collector... but yet still want it to retain value.
 
My player is a relatively plain Nitti. It has a radial pin, four points with no veneers of Amboyna Burl into birdseye maple with Chris's signature rings at in all spots.

The cue plays great with, what I'd consider, a neutral hit. It's quiet yet provides plenty of feedback. The shafts have phenolic ferrules and are neither whippy or stiff.

The construction and finish is on par with the best (no obvious glue lines or filled areas). I couldn't be happier with it and it'll probably be my player for a very, very long time. On top of all that, Chris's cues are typically very reasonably priced.

You don't give a location. The best thing to do would be to get to SBE in PA. this April. Dozens of custom builders and dozens more of production makers and dealers will be there. Test drive anything that appeals to you. Thousands of freakin' cues. Why take a chance?

The more you want to spend the more important this would be.
 
Thank you for all your responses! Can anyone compare the feel to James White or Dzuricky? I unfortunately am not able to get to the Expo this year, and the only custom makers used around here (Marietta, GA) are Jacoby.... Then Schon/Pechauer/Predator, etc... only 2 higher end cues used... 1 James White, and 1 Tibbits. I have played with the James White, and love the feel.... but not the look of this particular stick.

Don't know about the hit. He says it hits great. Maybe the best looking cue I have ever seen made by Chris Nitti. Cue really stands out while he is shooting.

I played with a nitti for a while, very nice cue, and very well made.

If you like stiff hitting cues that have a solid feel, I would suggest either Chudy or Guerra cues.

I have a Chudy for sale btw... let me know if you want to check it out. ;)
 
i once had a nitti and a nice james white
they played so similar and good that i put them up for sale figuring that i would play with the remaining one

trouble was,i sold both at the same time

i now play a larry vigas that i really love.i have 2 so both are for sale

Had a beautiful Nitti I used as a playing cue for years. Got lots of positive comments. Great looking and hitting cue.
 
Haven't played with any of them, but I'd definitely put JMW at the top of the heap as far as resale value as someone has already mentioned. The fact that he worked with Paul Mottey speaks to his pedigree as well. He'd be my favorite of the three as far as looks too, since I like a classic four pt. four veneer look over a lot of inlays and more points and all that which it seems Nitti does very well but just aren't to my taste. I will say, it seems to be the case that JMW is a bit hard to get a hold of which may influence your decision as well considering you may want him to do some work on the cue in the future. You'll probably hear the most people say Nitti's your man, and I've never heard a single bad word about him or his work. Lastly, I know absolutely nothing about Dzuricky.
 
Bob Dzuricky is a great guy.
He's made four cues for me over
the years and I've never been disappointed.
