News on Julie Nogiec and Scott Morgan?

What condition was he in? Lots of questions and very few answers here.
When I saw him last he was really out of it. I asked him what he was on and he mentioned a prescription for Oxycotin (sp?) for chronic pain. I saw him in that same condition several times at Danny K's. I clearly remember thinking to myself that I would be hearing this news someday in the near future but he and I weren't close enough friends for me to have any influence on him.

Henry

Still does, or did a few months ago. Super nice guy, and not afraid to bet it up.

Really, really surprised to hear about Julie. Super nice girl.

Henry still owns the the Las Vegas Cue Club. I live in Vegas and play there regularly. Julie is gone I am sad to say. Every time I was around her she always would greet you with a warm smile and a hug. She was a beautiful woman and played great pool. I will miss her very much.

I can't understand how things can be so bad that you'd want to commit suicide. What a sad sad thing to happen. I feel very sorry for her family.

Same with the OD. I've had a few friends go out like that and it really is a waste of a life. I surely hope some of you younger people that knew this guy can learn from his mistake. Condolences to his family also.

In Loving Memory.....Julie Nogiec

Julie Nogiec, 39, passed away Wednesday, May 5th, 2010. Some of us knew her for many years...some all her life. Julie was an unbelievably beautiful person both inside and out. Her smile was infectious and any thoughts of her bring fond and happy memories to countless people. Her talent and impact in the pool world was extraordinary. We will miss her deeply and our hearts reach out to Henry and her family.

Memorial services will be held May 16th at 6:00 pm at:
The Wayfarers Chapel (310-377-1650)
5755 Palos Verdes Drive South
Rancho Palos Verdes CA 90275

Since many of us may not be able to attend Julie's services in California, we are accepting contributions for a "Standing Flower Spray and Arrangement" from her Las Vegas Pool Player friends. Anyone that would like to contribute, please contact Pam Fletcher at 702-762-9299 and she will make the arrangements.

There will also be a local gathering at the Cue Club at some point. Details to be announced.

Weird but sadly true. They both passed away on the same day, May 6. From what I understand Julie's passing is a suspected suicide and Scotty from an overdose. I don't want to say anymore at this time. Henry still owns the Cue Club. I called to offer my condolences earlier today. We didn't talk long, it was just too hard for him. My heart goes out to all Julie's family.

She was a neat lady, with a beautiful smile that radiated and filled the room. She grew up in Canada and learned snooker from an early age. Her dad's first poolroom was up there in British Columbia. Can't remember if it was Calgary or Winnipeg. Julie shot as straight as anyone on tour back in the 90's and reached as high as 12th in the rankings. Her last job was at the Cue Club as I recall. I think she was 37 or 38.

Scotty spent many years in the L.A. area scuffling around playing pool. He was a decent shortstop who was his own worst enemy, due to his quick temper. I talked to him recently and he asked for a copy of my book, which I sent to him in Hawaii, where he was living. He called me two weeks ago to tell me how much he enjoyed it, but wanted to know why he wasn't mentioned in there. I promised to put him in my next book. He had just moved back to Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago and played in last Sunday's tourney at Hard Times. Tang said he saw him two days ago. Scotty was also in his 30's.

A sad ending to two very young lives. A twist of fate that they died on the same day.
Jay, sorry this is the first time I read this posting.
Despite it being 12 years ago, I just wanted to give some accurate info, as I worked for him, way back when.
Henry Nogiec owned the Crystal Palace pool room in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada with another great gentleman by the name of Ron Brown.
When Henry decided to move to Las Vegas in around 1980 he sold his half to Ron...
Hope this helps to those who wanted to know a little more about this great guy.

Wow - I didn’t see this either.

I knew Julie in the early 90s when her dad owned Yankee Doodles pool hall/sports bar on the Santa Monica Promenade. Had lots of fun playing 3-ball with her and Vivian Villarreal whenever Viv came through.

Lost touch with her when I moved to Belize in ‘94 - sad news about why she’s gone…

I remember watching her play years ago in Las Vegas. I did a little google and found this news report about her playing in a BCA pro event.
Good player RIP.........

This is great! Thanks so much for finding it. I sure did like her. What a sweetheart she was. She quit pool and became a master electrician with a good paying job. Something lured her back to the game. I had no idea how depressed she was, always seemed cheerful when I saw her.
