Nick van den Berg - 293 balls in straight pool

I am not very familiar with the Dutch language, but I think I understand it correctly on www.poolkrant.nl that Nick van den Berg made a new Dutch record in straight pool 6th of June, with an impressive 293 balls.

He scratched on the breakball for opening the table to spread the rack and reach the magic 300...
 
That's amazing...best I ever saw personally was 126 on a 9' Brunswick. Only practice, not a game. It still blew me away...shape is everything in that game.
 
damn, niels feijin will be very sad. I have his old 259 ball record video. Congrats to nick though :D
Love to hear about new blood in the old master's game.

If I'm reading it right, what they're saying is "in the past it's been traditional for us to say Nick set a new dutch straight pool record on April 1st (silly, I know). Today however it's no joke - the new Netherlands Straight Pool Record stands at 293 since June 6, 2007. Nick has made a new record. At 226 there was a key moment: he potted an almost impossible break ball and was able to aim for the Dutch record. At 293 it went wrong: he scratched on the break ball.

Looks legit.

edit: They also mentioned the 20,000 prize put up for Jasmin on the same page :D The guy putting it up says basically he sees no reason a woman can't compete at the same level as the men in cue sports... he already has a fair number of female customers, he expects that if she does win, that number will really grow. So he's gladly putting up 20,000 extra into the pot for her.
