How 'bout "Superstitious Aloysius". Don't remember where I heard this one but I think it was in The Bank Shot and Other Great Robberies.

We have a guy here that we all called Aquaman. (because he was such a fish) But in his defense, he has now gotten a lot better and isn't called that too often anymore.

That's Al Miller out of Racine, WI. He was a very good player in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

I was dubbed Hanky Panky in the early 90's by Dianne Reynolds/Crane when I worked at Champs in Dallas. I have not seen her in forever but the nicname has stuck like glue.

Hanky

You're incredible Jay! You are just a walking billiards encyclopedia, aren't you?

Are you saying that Mudd Butt should use some tissues? If he did that he would lose his name!

A guy at our hall (not Cory) used to call himself the Sniper....now we all call him the Snapper, for obvious reasons. Best nickname to me, was Love Sponge (I think that was Shawn Putnam). :p

There's a guy called "Crazy Larry" near where I live. You could even ask for him by that name and he wouldn't freak out. Oh yeah, the name fit.

There was a jam-up player called the Sniper, James "Sniper" Christopher. the guy might be the most underated player in history. Big time money maker and played better the higher the bet was.

Couple around here that comes to mind is Shawn "the shirt" Wilkie and Mike "the baby faced assassin" Davis.

My all time favorite was "Freddie the Beard, Without the Beard". They really called him that! Right Frederico?

And then there was "Crazy" Bruce, who liked to bang his head against the wall when he missed.

One more I liked was "Crying" Sam. He moaned about everything including his good shots.

"The Whale" was aptly named, about 6'4" and 450 pounds of lard. Oh and how about "Lotsapoppa", who was also enormous.

Here's another well named pool player. They just called him "Trip" because of his penchant for having epileptic seizures while playing. It's true because I played him and he had a seizure. I'll save that story for my book.

And of course, "Low Down Dirty Red" is self explanatory.

I've been dubbed "Mattman!" on my Thurs night team. Complete with the Batman theme song :D Whenever I do well in a match, I get a different color cape :D

I like the one I recently read about "Machine Gun" Lou Butera's son. I don't remember his first name so let's just say it's Mark. If you're Lou Butera's son, what do they call you? Well.. Mark "Son-of-a-Gun" Butera !!!

Donovan christened me Kool Ade, then First Ade when I was limping. Oh, and occasionally English B@#$%$d!;)

It was and is Sal "Son Of A Gun" Butera. And he ain't no slouch either.

Thanks for the help, Jay. I saw Lou put on an exhibition in Austin, Tx, way back in the 70's ... great guy. After the exhibition, he asked if anyone had questions, I asked about Fats, and of course he said something like "Fats only played in one pro tournament and he came in dead last, and I got the newspaper clipping at home to prove it!". Lou is a great one.
