Nielsen's Billiards (www.joerackem.com) Another Glowing Review

There is a lot of negativity surrounding the pool world and the state of the industry lately. I'm not going to argue that times could be better, but I do want to share (unsolicited) my positive experience.

I recently bought two cues from Nielsen's Billiards in Springfield, IL (www.joerackem.com). The first one arrived last week, and the second one will likely take a few more weeks. But, I had to post this today, because I cannot say enough good things about Joe and the service that I've gotten from him.

I had been wanting to spend some time hitting shots with different cues side by side and feeling the hits, and the differences between joints, weights, makers, etc. I was fortunate enough to head down to Springfield to check out their showroom, where I got to do just that. I told them up front that I wasn't going to be buying a cue that day, but they still let me spend the better part of 2 hours there hitting shots with different cues to find out what I liked. I never once felt pressured one way or another, or rushed in any way. I got suggestions when I asked for them, and picked up a few tidbits that I wouldn't have even thought to ask about.

When I got back home, I was in e-mail communication with Joe for a couple of weeks, getting price quotes, clarifying details, etc. I never waited more than 24 hours for a response, and often had responses from him within the hour. The process would have taken less time, but I wasn't quick enough to keep up with Joe!

I priced both of these cues several places, including some of the dealers on this site, and Joe was able to beat the second best price on both by nearly 20%. I don't know how he does it, but I can't ignore savings like that.

When my cue arrived, Joe rolled it, notified me that he was sending it and then sent me the tracking number for the cue. It arrived as scheduled, and looked absolutely stunning (if I do say so myself :)).

The cue felt heavy when I put it together for the first time, so I brought it into work with me and weighed it on a digital scale. It was exactly 1/2 ounce heavier than I had ordered it, so I gave Joe a call. I wasn't sure what the normal variance was for new cues, so I wanted to know if it was something worth taking up with the maker or not. Joe did me one better...

On the spot, he appologized for not weighing the cue (I told him that was not necessary, and that I did not think it was his responsibility). Then he took the time to talk me through taking the bumper off the butt, and taking out the weight bolt. He was able to identify the weight bolt used despite my horrible description ("uh...it feels like steel..."). He then sent me a weight bolt out of his own stock (shipping paid by him) that would cut 1/2 ounce off the weight of the cue.

In my opinion, he went out of his way to make sure that I got exactly what I was looking for. There are some great dealers here on AZ, and I'm not taking anything away from any of them. But, after an experience as great as the one I had with Nielsen's, I can't imagine going anywhere else to buy.

I just wanted to share that with everyone. Nielsen's obviously gets my recommendation to anyone. :D

Joe has been top notch as long as I can remember. I am glad you are happy!

In the last few years, I have purchased one cue and 3 different shafts from Joe and he has always been great. Great customer service, excellent communication, and great pricing. I'll be back for more eventually. ::thumbup::

I have bought several things from him as well. Has to be about the best seller I have ever bought from on ebay. Very easy to work with.

Haven't bought anything for awhile

I haven't bought anything at all for awhile so I haven't dealt with Joe recently however he has always been absolutely first class in our dealings.

I too can highly recommend Joe he is first class as is Kathy........

Over the years i have dealt with Joe he has become a friend not just my dealer, and i'm hoping to get over to the states soon and pay him a visit.

I purchased a Schon cue and a 314-2 shaft about three weeks ago from Joe. Unfortunately he sent me the wrong shaft and sent me a Schon shaft. I called the man up and he was very polite and easy to talk to. I ended up paying for a discounted Schon shaft and a few days later got my predator shaft. If the man ever does you wrong, he'll come back and do it right. I strongly suggest anyone who wants to get anything first hand or brand new, go to Joe.

Ditto.... I have bought some of my Moori tips and table cleaner from him. Can ALWAYS bet on a smooth transaction

Joe is great to deal with - good prices, great customer service, prompt shipping and a wide variety of products.

He advertises an ABS one piece rack 280134933334 for 12.99 plus SH- came to close to 21.00 i beleive. Good price i say if its a good rack. I expected the black one piece all the way and i got this POS because it has this awful finish/splash on it, I actuallyt thought it was wood for a while. It definitely isnt the one in the ads which has 'indents' near all the "points", MIne has no indents.

Anyway, it is 3 pieces of plastic glued each glued twice to this smaller triangle -It's a mile and a half away from a one peice abs rack. Of course he'll take it back but to pack it up, ins, go to the PO-right there is easily $20 worth of aggravationn. I forgot to add, it is incapable of producing a good rack on its own. The dimensons are just off. The rack provides no assistance in freezing balls 2 and 3. What really surprised me in talking to joe, he didnt seem to want to get to the bottom of it. One of these days ill drop it off as a "present" somewhere.

Wow! Now that's a first. I can honestly say that I have never heard of Joe not being on top of things completely or jumping out of his shoes to fix the problem.

yeah, I'm with ya.....

I often drive down to his store (an hour and a half drive), just to see what little treasures he has that aren't listed on the Bay. He's always eager to answer any questions, and has no problem with me just browsing for a half an hour or more.....

Well it was just a very small order and he did offer to take it back. Ill just have to find one somewhere that i can see first-pay a little extra and be sure of what i get.

Of all the rotten things i have ever gotten mail order, the only thing i ever returned was that Solar Operated Fan that was supposed to keep your car cool. What a POS that didnt even work a little bit.

THere is a site that reviews all the "as seen on TV' products. You will be hard pressed to find a decent review of any product.

Ditto here.

In the last year and a half I've had many dealings with Joe via eBay. I often wonder how he's able to - with all his numerous transactions - provide such quick and attentive service.

I did have one funny transaction with him early this year. I bought a set of joint protectors from him [1 butt/ 2 shaft] and he accidentally sent me 2 butt and 1 shaft joint protectors. He was so apologetic, and we had a good laugh on that one.

Online merchants could learn a lot from Joe. He's in my eBay favorites list.

How do I get contact joerackem other than Ebay?
Ebay will not allow me to send my email address!!
Thanks in advance!!
