NO Alcohol/Smoking Rooms?

Anyone know of any successful no smoking, no alcohol billiard (pool) rooms anywhere?

Used to be a no smoking, no hustling ( they did
sell beer), classical music playing, carpeted
pool room in downtown Morristown, New Jersey.
They stayed in business one year.
The bartender took one look at me and said,
" You must be from West Virginia."
I said, " Howdja know?"

This place gets my vote!

How many would like this place as your home room?

I wish...

I make it a point to play there whenever I'm in SoCal.

Well, now one has been mentioned in a country of 350,000,000 people ain't bad I guess. Chances are there is no smoking in the surrounding area either which certainly helps keeping your customers from going to another room.

every pool hall here(ontario) is non smoking, every bar is for that matter. I found it wierd when i was in fla recently and walked in a there was a 3 foot haze of smoke on the ceiling, my eyes were burning. I had forgot what it was like to be in a smoking bar again.

How successful are they? I mean, such an establishment wouldn't last a minute in NYC (or much of the Eastcoast, as far as I've seen). No alcohol, you would easily be saying bye-bye to about 30% profit, for some rooms, as much as 70%.

Right on, east coast halls are smoked up easily as bad as, if not worse than the bars. In PA, there is no alcohol served in a pool room; it's some kind of ordinance (or so I was told!), but I don't know the specifics...

I *wish* we had a smokeless room, I would love to come home from a long day of shooting once and not hear about how much I smell like smoke or be asked if I was smoking...

Earl's in Flint MI is doing good

Not a huge place, but a nice one. Spoke with Earl over the weekend and he's pleased with business.

Huh?? I thought there was no longer smoking allowed in NY at all. You can't smoke in the places I used to play in in Binghamton. And the upstate NY pool rooms were alcohol free for YEARS, 'til about '98 or '99.

There IS no smoking in NYS establishments. I was referring to alcohol in my post. Every room in the city has a bar and all rely on it to keep them in the black.

First State Billiards in Dover DE. Delaware is no smoking unless it's a private club ala VFW, Elks, Etal. First state has no bar. It's run by a family that has a couple Chinese resturants in the area. She wanted to open another resturant, he wanted a pool room. They compromised and purchased the old Capitol Billiards, put a lot of work in and aside from the location it's nice. The snack bar serves up some great Chinese...;) He's got a snooker table and 4 nice tight Gabriels, 8 or so GC's and a few other 9' tables. 6 Valley 7' down the center. He has "Happy Time" prices, runs an in house league, and 9 ball tourney, and has 1/2 price table time before 5pm. The tables are clean level and newly felted. It is a real pleasure to shoot there and it has a steady flow of people with a good crowd on the weekend.
The fact that it doesn't have a bar doesn't bother me. If I want to drink I'll just bring in a half pint and buy a drink from the machine as mixer. It's not in the open, no one gets out of hand, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Ok, sorry, I misread. What did every room in the city do before they had a bar?? I can think of about a dozen places in the state who were open for many years and did very well before they allowed alcohol.
