No Archer for the Mosconi???

Who runs Matchroom Sport?

Where does the guaranteed money come from for making the team? Television?

Barry Hearn. The Mosconi Cup is on live TV in Europe. Hearn has built up an event and a brand. See: http://www.matchroompool.com/page/Home

Hearn is also the head of professional snooker.

As for the prize money, it is a small part of the production costs, unlike most pool tournaments. And the Mosconi Cup pays a lot better than most pool tournaments. TV money.

Thanks, seems a bit odd not to allow the American captain to choose his wild card team members but Hearn has a good event and obviously knows what works best on television.

I'm not too sure if it is Barry Hearn who picks the teams. He is the head of Matchroom alongside being the chairman of World Snooker so he's a pretty busy guy. I believe it's Luke Riches who is the man for pool at Matchroom.

Some good opinions here

Everybody. But Matchroom's decision to go for CJ will have a far reachng impact on the game and will prove to be one of the most inspirational decision ever.

So it matters not who might have been considered because CJ is gonna be there a long, long time

What do you mean by ''far reaching impact''....and why do you say long/long time, whats your reasoning behind that statement?

Still it would be good to see who was considered. There was talk on here of Robles. But it would be good to see who Matchroom officially wanted.

I think it will be a great shout from them to put CJ up for it. After being out of the game for so long I think he will have such a passion for the big time again. As a Euro, this isn't the best news for us

Mosconi cup players

I would like to see SVB, Earl, Johnny, Donnie Mills and CJ play. LOl, oh, Donnie will need a heck of a taxi.
