I have nothing against your company. Asking questions isn't an aggressive posture. If the answer is: We're merely a sponsor - we're not handling payouts.

Then, that's the answer.

Don't misinterpret questions as being hateful towards your firm. Think of this like we're all sitting by camp fire drinking a beer and learning about companies, tournaments, sponsorships and scholarships. If something is secret, say so... if it's public info.... say it if you know it... and leave your emotions in your other pants since we're all just drinking a beer by the camp fire.

At the events there was literature handed out regarding Children's Hospital. The promoter of the event did this event and also worked with Walgreen's. A substantial donation was made to Children's Hospital but you would have to contact Walgreen's to get the actual total of the donation as I have forgotten.

Everyone who signed up knew this was to be the case as it was on the flyers, the registration page, and it was announced at all events.

It could have been very simple to just answer it or ignore it but like everything else it turns into a jousting match. :slap:

Bottom line, IMO, decisions are not going to please everyone. Using the Report feature is a good way to get your opinion on questionable content addressed. You can make your case when you report a post. The process is not really a mystery, a moderator makes the best decision according to their judgement and the stated rules. Are you asking for a review of the moderation process, or are you just trying to say that they have done a poor job in this thread IYO? If you have suggestions as to improvement, it may be better to state them, rather than just asking for a review.

Yeah, I'm not a moderator, this is just my opinion. As to the OP, I think it was a little vague and a little too obstinate. Judging by the response that followed, so did a lot of people. As to libelous comments the OP addresses, some of her brother's posts made toward Mark Cantrell seem to qualify in that regard.
 
First and second get $200 and $100 scholarships. Generally I know what a scholarship is used for but in this case, what does a youth use one for, a Nintendo?

$3500 sponsorship, 1st and 2nd get $300. Donations to a Children's Hospital.

I'm kind of with Dave as I would like to know the break down as well.

I have to admit that I am completely confused as to exactly what Str8 Shots is, what they do, who actually benefits, who pays whom, and whether they are altruistic or opportunistic. What I do know is that the more information that gets revealed the more red flashing warning lights I see.

Simple questions about their business model are being asked but rather than respond with direct answers, they accuse the questioners of "attacking" them and attempt to have the thread deleted. It's hard to trust an organization which refuses to be open about their organization and the role it plays, and the feeling of distrust gets stronger with each (non)response.

Some questions still beg to be asked and answered:

What exact role does Str8 Shots' play with respect to their youth promotional/charity events? Are you the promoters, fund raiser, or merely contributing sponsors? What is your company's business model, who pays whom, is this segment of your business a registered charity, and, if so, what percentage of your income goes directly to the "children", and what is your public registration number?

Are you using the word "scholarship" as a substitute for "tournament payout" for legal liability purposes?

You ask fair questions in this post. I am questioning the moderation process. I've been here for many years and it seems that this place has grown more vulgar and where personal attacks are in vogue. This thread is a good example at how questionable content has been overlooked, while enduring moderator presence and the thread relaying a first hand experience with cue make John Showman was deleted. The Showman thread was even buttressed by a sock puppet account in which I highly doubt the moderators even compared IP addresses.

Regarding Kimberly's brother: he issued a public apology for his behavior. I have yet to see anyone recant their questionable statements, otherwise. And I'll also add, that Justin, who was also privy to the particular circumstances, agreed with how/why str8shots parted company with Mark.
 
I had an encounter with a Hari Krishna in the Denver airport in like 1977.
I was handed ( given as his gift to me ) a copy of the Bhagavad Gita and when I tried to walk away, the guy demanded a "donation". I tried to give the book back but he insisted I keep it, yet also was insistent on receiving that donation. When I threatened to call the police, he left me with best wishes and that I enjoy the book on my flight.

My thought here is that these youth were given a choice of whether they could or not "donate". The way it was stated made it sound mandatory that in order to play..they MUST pay ( donate ) to be eligible to participate.

Now, I'm not a lawyer..but I think there are some questions here.

I think it is hilarious that one person on here can antagonize the heck out of people, correct grammar and challenge spelling contests, and get good people banned. If not for her behavior almost no one would get banned. She causes it all just like a slow awful and usually a XXXXXX or XXX or XXXXX is driving in the left lane being ignorant causes road rage. Besides who the hell would want to keep coming back to a place that hardly anyone wanted you.

The vulgar language in this thread?
The subtle innuendos that str8shots has scammed the public?
The outright statements of fact that they ARE scamming the public?
Are you disputing that Ken4fun's thread relaying his personal experience with John Showman was deleted?
Are you representing that Jennifer13's post was legitimate? And when the question of sock-puppetry was raised in that thread and others, did you in fact investigate the IP address?

I'm just trying to understand what you mean when you state I have "no clue"
