Yesterday I picked up a (I call it sausage orange wood) SW with a black then yellow veneer going into ebony. It looks like a bright yellow prong and blk/yellow SW. reminds me of a Yellow and black ferrari. It has a black linen wrap on it which is cool but I'm gonna have Tony at Black Boar put a shiny black lizzard wrap on it. Then I'll get pics of it to post. its just 3hi/3lo regular SW with no A/B rings. the rings would interrupt the flow of the black. There aint gonna be another one for along time becaquse Mickey had a hard time keeping the ebony dust out of the osage orange wood, its 99% out but there are a couple black specks. Because of the over all look of the cue they are not noticeable. He isnt in the mood to deal with that again he told me. So its a rare color combo. Laurie said that they would build a cue with that wood again, just not in the near future. She wanted me to be clear that its not a one of one, but its not something they are interested in doing very often or soon-those are her words. So its possible to get one just not this week.

I love the looks of all SW cues but this one is smoking hot, especially after Tony wraps it. I imagine I could get $4,000 for it, I'd pay that much for it, its that sexy. Tony's wrap is gonna cost. I'm not in it 4 and it dont matter cause this cue aint ever gonna be forsale, I wouldnt take 6,7,8 or even 10K for it-Its just one of those cues that jumped out at me and is part of the permanent collection(I do have some cues I will be selling this year in the fall/winter). it weighs 19.75. I put Black Kamui tips on it, now I need bright yellow chalk and I'll have all my colors right. Anyone know of bright yellow chalk???, the brighter the better.

After Tony wraps it, I'm gonna ask Tikkler if he would be kind enough to photograph it, the up close shots will show the specs, but form 4' away they arnt noticeable. I hope he will photograph it. I own a pile of cues and how often do I get excited enough to post a pic of a cue? This cue is something else, there is not IMO a sexier 6pt. SW ever, now or in the past or future. there is nothing fancy about it, no inlays. just a little ring work at the joint and butt capp. all standard SW work. Its the colors that make it so strong. I like Blk/Yellow cars, cues G-strings, etc. I'm telling you this cue is the bomb for what it is a 6pt SW. that smokes the rest of them, even my ivory pointed one.

Best

Eric:)

Tikkler if you dont want to photograph it, thats cool, I probably should have asked you before this post-but i'm too excited. If you do want to do it, I'll have tony send it to you, I promis I will come to the City to visit you(2 years after i promised). If you dont want to photograph it, its totally cool and please feel no obligation to photog it, just say "No" and were still 110% friends.

Did i mention im excited

Sounds like a very unique South West. I look forward to seeing pictures, especially if Steve takes them. He has a perfect set up for taking cue pics.

I am constructing a photo booth now. It's a Tikkler "tribute"... ;)

Wow this is gonna be great, Thanks Steve!!! this is gonna be fun for all of us. We got a SW with a BB wrap, photographed by Tikkler who has really got good at cue pics this past year. What a fun thing. Its not a monster cue with 1000 inlays or a cue with history. It is IMO the best of a regular SW which is a great players cue(my favorite style of cue) with the best wrap in the biz and the best photographer. I think that all adds up to a good thread that we will enjoy, thats what keeps this place going and why were here.

I've said it a million times cue collecting isnt a competition, and this cue is just great eye candy and i'm sure will play great. I been using a Sugartree for a break cue for 2+ years-maybe 3 years now, My other sugartree is used all the time b friends here at my house. I might use this new SW as my break cue if it works good for me as break cue Im not sure:confused:.

Thats the part about cue collecting I dont like is I would like to use all the cues I have more than I do. I still bust out the GSB the rosewood/rosewood cue, pretty often(my all time favorite cue). I dont like to see cues just sit, the only exception is the "Tribute to my Dad" Barry I own-that cue I want to keep new un-hit.

sounds great to me.
I always order my southwest without rings because I like the flow a little better too.
I buy others and like the rings, but if I order it new I like the flow

I know you will be happy with the cue

New Cue

Sounds very unique.. I always enjoy seeing pictures of cues it's a great form of art... Cant wait to see it..
The Dster.

Sounds a lot like a perfect get-together in favor of one ultimate player's cue thread. I am genuinely looking forward to seeing the pictures, to see how the colors flow and to see the specs as well.
I think that minor cosmetic blemishes can appear while tackling major difficulties and I would like to see the blend of orange and black - I find that a whole lot more to be interesting rather than disturbing, I really wish to see that.

I am looking forward to it and I have to say it is just great to see you guys working together such closely on this project.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of this one, Eric.

One question, though: Will Earl have to wear his bee-keeper's outfit when he comes over to play? :grin-square:

yes he will need his bee keepers gear when i bust out this cue.

I happened to have a wrap from Tony here, Of course I cant install it, but I did hold it around the cue, and WOW it was better looking than I expected. I'm gonna ship the cue to Tony next week, he is off this comming week. I'm thinking of making a trip out there in about 3 weeks so most likely it will be wrapped then, I'm gonna go to DC on biz and Go hang with Tony and watch a movie or 2.

I might get me some bee keepers gear, could help my game.:grin-square:

its only getting better.........

I never had a gold coin in my life, many times in the past when i was making $$$ I thought about about buying a pile of gold as a investment, i would have tripled my $$$, but my dumb ass bought Las Vegas realestate and its worth 33 cents on the dollar so a million would now be 3 mil in gold and my mil is 350K. Thats only a 10X swing-think I aint sick???:angry: So much for the old saying they aint making more land.

anyways I was at a friends shop the other day who sells gold coins, I never had one up close. It seems to be going up in price so what the heck I bought a $25; 1/2oz Liberty gold coin. I really like it, I been carring it in my cue case and flipping it before we play and using it under the rail to keep score. Its worth a bout $40 more than I paid for it-Wahoo!!! too little too late.

so there it is sitting on my table, I just like looking at it. And the Sausage Orange SW was sitting there, I noticed the gold tones in the prongs looked real nice with the coin near by. I picked up the coin and cue and put the coin next to the cue and wow it looked great, the t shades of goldish/yellow were just right.

I had to figure out how to get some gold in this cue. In about 5-66 seconds the rubber bumper was on the floor, I placed the coin up against the bottom of the cue, its the perfect diameter to counter sink the coin into the bumper end of the cue and have enough side wall that it will be strong enough to hold up if it gets banged(which will never happen anyways).

So tomarrow I'm going to SW and taking the coin and cue over, Mickey will have to bore out the hole wider and deeper so the coin dosent touch the floor but isnt counter sunk so deep it looks weird, its gonna take some work but is 100% doable. I'm gonna take good care of him for his time to do this. So its gonna be a bumperless SW with 1/2oz gold in it, now the cue will be a bit heavy 20.25oz. But damn is it gonna look good.

This cue will be a monster SW thats not a fancy.

Now if I could only learn to dress good I'd be set. I can make cues look great and cars. but give me $100,000 and send me to 5th ave in NYC for cloths and I'd still look like a mess. I just dont have a eye for fashion :(

Clever move with the coin, Eric. I also love gold coins. The coin in my avatar is too big for a cue, but it might look cool on the front of a beekeeper's hood.

BTW: when someone asks you what happened to that gold coin you just bought, I suggest that you not say that you stuck it up your butt.

Let us know if it changes the hit of the cue at all. I bet a bunch of people have their own little lucky coins and may use this idea.
