West of the Mississippi till you get to CA, and I'm not including TX, there is Zippo pro events, why?
You are not invited. In other words NEVER.![]()
Kansas is west of the river. zarIn your opening post you said west of the Miss. but now you're talking Kansas-Colorado. I just don't see any big pro events coming to Colorado-Kansas general area anytime soon. There's a LOT of this country west of the Miss. is my point. Most of the pool right now is played in the eastern third of the country. Higher pop. density and easier to get from one event to another. What will bring them to Denver?? MONEY that's what. Find a promoter to put it up and they'll be there.
Why didn't you just say no pro traction in CO? That's what you truly meant. Instead, you said "West of the Mississippi" and excluded all points west where events are happening. LOL!Never mind. Apparently comprehension is taking a back seat here. First you just said 'west of the Miss, EXCEPT Texas' then you narrowed it down to Ks-Col. Make up your mind. 'pun/ REALLY intended for Colo herb users) answer: having a big pro event in Colorado much less Ks. would require TWO things: a spot on the schedule and a promoter with deep pockets and/or a big sponsor. And it has turned into a state run by lib nutjobs. Cheap? Ask me if i give a shit.
run by lib nutjobs?
Nice description of your attitude. Got it !
At least NOW you've proved how opened minded you truly are.
Bye enjoy your non pipe dream.
And your miscue, KS is west of the Mississippi. But you failed to admit your mistake.
From the purple man.![]()
He's been around the game long enough to know exactly why there's no big pro events out there. Don't even know why he asks. Really boils down to very basic shit: 1. The location is kinda remote for most players 2. Finding a spot on a pro calendar that gets more crowded(a good thing) by the year. And good 'ol #3: MONEY. The location is the easiest to deal with, finding a date-slot and $$$$ are the show stoppers. Why didn't you just say no pro traction in CO? That's what you truly meant. Instead, you said "West of the Mississippi" and excluded all points west where events are happening. LOL!
West of the Miss. kinda involves just a 'little bit' of territory. I think Kansas City could be a good place for a big event. Middle of the country in a pool-friendly area. Same caveats apply: date slot and money. Why didn't you just say no pro traction in CO? That's what you truly meant. Reno is a shithole - as bad or worse than atlantic city, only thing is, AC has millions of people within a couple hr drive. Nobody is traveling to RenoI understand the gist of his post and that other than Vegas there's not a lot here in the west. I understand why here in California there's nothing to speak of because of the cost to do anything here. But why there isn't anything in Reno is beyond me. Reno is the perfect place to stage a major event, it's got a rich pool history with all those wonderful Sands Regency tournaments back in the day and unlike Vegas it's affordable for the average person to attend. Hopefully Emily will take note and give this town some consideration.
Your right and many other rooms were Big, still a couple tho not as large. Earl, Sigel and many other came thru, Scott Smith ran some of the events and John McChesney had his events there also. There's a good room in Ft. Collins, Matchups prior owner Gary Benson. Mike and Nicole Hellmer got a deal from em they couldn't refuse, good people. Many year's ago I remember hearing about the Denver Open played at the Colfax Billiards Lounge and I'd dream of the day I'd get to play in such an event but it never happened and if I also remember correctly the Colfax Billiards is closed and gone .
Please correct me if I've made a error .
Nobody is traveling to Reno (for pool) well I take it that you never attended any of the highly successful Sands Regency tournaments that went on for some TWENTY years or so. And if you've visited places like the Grand High Sierra casino and still describe Reno and associated casinos in the term you used, I suggest to you that you are delusional and have most likely been out in the garden without your sun hat again. Needless to day I respectfully disagree with you.Reno is a shithole - as bad or worse than atlantic city, only thing is, AC has millions of people within a couple hr drive. If the event was so great and Reno such a top draw, why did they stop it?Nobody is traveling to Reno (for pool) well I take it that you never attended any of the highly successful Sands Regency tournaments that went on for some TWENTY years or so. Doesn't mean Reno isn't a shithole, and ive never heard ANYBODY say they are going on vacation to Reno. Hasn't been a tournament there in 16years - can't imagine why.Nobody is traveling to Reno (for pool) well I take it that you never attended any of the highly successful Sands Regency tournaments that went on for some TWENTY years or so. This would be a good question for Jay, he was involved with it during that time. I think the Sands event director whose name was Barbara Woodward (if my memory serves me correctly) was directly involved in the staging of those great biannual events. If the event was so great and Reno such a top draw, why did they stop it?
