Sure, not like you didn't somehow find the time to issue multiple press releases before the ABP got what they wanted.

Not like you would actually want to add some semblance of professionalism to a group that is supposed to be representing this sport that you love so much.

I bet you are a great guy. I can totally appreciate you wanted to support and improve the game of pool. But by leaving these loose ends that Barry can exploit, you all look ridiculous.

Plus, like it or not, it is your name at the top of the ABP web page. If I was the broker of a deal on the US Open, I sure as f*ck would have been *****ing about that and it would be fixed by now.

I think that's a bit harsh. Dennis was representing the ABP for free as an attorney and not as their PR agent. With as many ppl involved on their side one of them could have typed something up for AZB, or just made a thread here. Expecting the guy working for free to do it for them is a bit ridiculous and a little ungrateful imo.

Scott's right about this. Dennis is a great guy that has done a lot for pool players and the sport. The ABP on the other hand are a bunch of spoiled brats who think the world owes them living just because they can draw their ball! If they want the respect and the big bucks they need to earn it!

Professional players like Thorsten apparently look down on their fans with comments like: "Fans who can't even run two balls think they know how to fix pool."

The pro players themselves don't even know how to fix pool, as evidenced by the current state of our sport. Among other things, ABP players declaring a boycott and then dragging their feet on retracting their statement is certainly not how you fix pool.
 
I know this is no excuse, but simply a possibility. After examining their website, it is of the absolute bare bones variety for a site. There is absolutely no code in any of the pages except the bare necessity. It's not a typical wordpress site, where there is thousands of free templates to choose from, it's not a site from any of the professional web editors. I'm thinking it was either created by a very generic web site builder or someone from here or a friend of theirs did it by hand.

The point I'm making here is this... They probably put that site up and there has been nothing new added to it, except those press statements in the News section. So it's not like someone is ever actively working on the site adding any new material. Their domain is registered to a Joseph Lui from New York, whoever he is. It was bought in June of 2010, probably had a basic site created for it and no work was ever done to it again until this whole Open thing came up.

So while it is no excuse, they should have put up another statement stating there was a agreement made to end the boycott, it probably never ran across anyone's mind to fix the site. That theory is based on the fact they probably never update it, so it isn't a common practice for them to do anything to it.

As far as Dennis.. no need to be harsh on him. He's doing the work pro bono just has Harry Platis has done for many players. Nothing wrong with having a professional help out the pool community. Whether it be Barry or the players, we're all part of the pool community. You may not agree with side he is helping, but lets not criticize him. He's just the lawyer trying to get the sides to come to a resolution, not the PR man or the web designer:smile:

My opinion is, that it was in bad taste to not put something up on their site to reflect the latest news. You can't drive people to your site to read your side, then not update it to reflect what's happened since.

Another odd thing... you would think by driving people to their site, someone would have taken a renewed interest in getting some content up on their site. Right now, in it's current state.. it's kind of a worthless site, in the sense there's nothing on it.:D Put something up on it.. plug the pros, videos pictures, bio's ... anything !!!

Your comments are out of line. Bash the ABP or bash some other perceived evil-doer but why attack a guy who is giving up his time trying to help the game?

You are out of order, lets see what you have done in your life to help pool or pool players. Let me guess......................errrr I don't know you so I won't guess, but I bet it's close to..................not a lot!

The guy has a real job he does this pro bono, give him a break! Also 90% of people here were also giving the ABP a hard time because they didn't contact their entire membership first before the original statement went out, maybe they are doing it now?

Jeeeez some of you on here are just so negative and quick to jump on people, it's not only problems with promoters and players giving pool a bad rep.

The bottom line here is that the ABP has not shown them selves to be very "professional" throughout this entire debacle. The website is yet another example.

The goal and/or motivation for the group was fine. It was the execution that was lacking.

If they truly wish to be recognized as "the" group to make things happen for "professional" pool, they need real leadership. They need to act "professionally".

Will it happen? Given the previous examples, I'm not so sure.

JK, Dennis.

I think some folks need to realize that the lawyer is not the client. If I, as a client (even a pro bono one), do or say something estupido, that is not my lawyer's fault.

Dennis is a great guy and is always trying to give back to the pool world. In this case he tried to help the pro players and depending on your perspective, that may or may not have back-fired on him. Like I said, it ain't the lawyer's fault if the client goes off.

As I said before, the ABP is short-sighted and self serving.

I also appreciate Dennis' involvement...sadly, the road to Hell is paved with good intention.
 
Let's not shoot the messenger. The fault for this entire situation falls squarely on the shoulders of Johnny Archer and the ABP.
If an agreement was not negotiated, you can bet your sweet a$$ that the ABP web site would be updated to tell all players the boycott was on and to stay away from the Open.

He's posted videos of Diliberto giving straight pool lessons that we can watch for free, as well as a 100 other things...what exactly have you done since you joined here that even comes close to that?

For someone who felt the need to call another member here an idiot, you really didn't do your homework on that post.
 
Perhaps Mr. Behrman could have communicated privately with the ABP on this rather than stirring the pot again publicly.

Perhaps, but is it wrong to expect the ABP to modify their public statements to reflect the truth? The truth being that Barry made concessions at his own discretion.

Pro pool remains as disfunctional as ever.

Nope; nothing wrong with that expectation. But prod them privately first (perhaps that happened), not publicly.

Upon closer reading, you are right. This stuff has me wound a little too tight and I happened to recall some of your earlier comments.

As Sweet Lou (Figueroa) said, "Oh no, not another press release!"

I did not think one was necessary but others demanded one and so there you have it. I hope we can let this rest now and move forward with doing the best we can for pool. I know you have done a helluva lot for it and for that I applaud you.
