Are there any Cuemakers that wont use Ivory ?
Are there any Cuemakers that wont use Ivory ?
Jim,
My hat's off to you Sir, tap, tap, tap.
We have come to a point in time where ivory has lost it's place in the billiards industry and it's time to move forward. Ivory has proven itself to be inferior to many of the materials that are available today and there is no longer any reason to continue to use it. Unless of course you happen to be a member of the select group of people that feel it's more important to impress their friends with how much ivory they have in their cues, possibly to make-up for the short-comings of their game. Look, the only reason cuemakers today continue to use ivory is to jack up the price of their cues. There is no performance enhancement to ivory whatsoever. It's actually detrimental to performance. As I see it, this controversy puts players in one of two camps. Those that can impress with their game & those that try to impress with how pretty their cue is while they're doggin the cheese. Respectfully & Sincerely, KJ
Thank you I believe that there is no reason at all for the continued use of ivory in any product. I'm looking to buy a nice custom cue and there are a lot of cue makers that I wont consider because they seem to love to use ivory. Then there are a few that although I'm aware of cues that they have used ivory on they don't have them on there web sites and they don't have links to photos of big piles of the stuff. What I'm looking for are cuemakers who have never used ivory or who at some point in there career made the decision to quit , and particularly any who are vocal in there refusal to work in ivory . IVORY IS BAD . and its pre ban doesn't mean s#!* to me! You never see any one trying to sell any post ban ivory yet elephants are still killed for there tusks. Wonder where the seemingly inexhaustible supply of pre ban ivory comes from?
Dennis Dieckman ( http://www.cuemaker.com/ ) is an elephant lover and does not use ivory. I'm not as much of an elephant lover, but I do not use ivory either.
...And yes there are cue makers who would make you a cue WITH OUT IVORY but most of them would still use it in any other cue and it will be sitting around their shop while your cue is being built...
...Everybody is is a wh***.
im with dick sorry pal. i love to use ivory. buy a meucci and call it a day... personally i dont like your aproach. like a slap in the face to makers that use ivory. pwesonally i wouldnt make u a cue for twice my charge ivory ferrules included...JMO
whoever made the statement ivory is an inferrior material couldnt be more wrong.
then again opinions are like a$$holes... everyones got one.
good luck in your search

If you want to shoot a elephant then all you have to do is fly to Africa and pay your money. You can also get a giraffe and leopard while you are there. Right or wrong that is a fact and the hide and tusks do come back to the US.

Just because you can doesn't make it right.
I'm not a big animal rights activist, but I just don't believe it's right to kill off a species that is not being re-supplied, like trees, cattle, chickens, pigs, fish, sheep...
Nobody asked for your opinions (or mine) about what is right or wrong. The question was simply "Are there any Cuemakers that wont use Ivory ?"
If you use Ivory, please quit hijacking the thread and go find someone else to harrass. He's obviously NOT talking to you and isn't looking to buy your cues. So, grow up and quit having a temper tantrum over it. Good grief!
