Glad to see that on the schedule!!! I am flying into Houston this Friday and driving that table back over the weekend... it will be here waiting for you by Sunday afternoon... if my truck doesn't break down!

You know what I'd really like to do. I'd like to Finnish making my DVDs for recovering and working on pool tables for Simonis, then buy a nice motor home to pull my trailer with, so I can then spend the next few years traveling around the country working with other table mechanics in the hopes of fine tuning our trade, and someday maybe even form some kind of a billiards technicians association that would in someway help straighten out our end of this business for the betterment of the sport.

Glen

Sounds like an awesome plan. Only you can put it in motion. Do what you love and love what you do.

I'm a pretty new pool player, and I don't post much here. But just from reading the forums here I've got a lot of respect for you. Don't listen too much to everyone naysaying your decision to put Diamond on notice about possibly dissolving your relationship if things don't improve. You do what's right for you. It's the only way to be happy.

I don't have a table that needs to be recovered or anything just wishing you my best.

My DVD backorders are over 1000 - I expect a big discount, lol :D

Anyway -
If I was to lay down many G's for a diamond table I'd be wayy more impressed
if the delivery guy showed up in this -

I think someone in Jeffersonville is missing a major marketing opportunity here.

How would that be a marketing opportunity? You've already bought the product by that point. :D

The Cobra could get "Get Real" and be "King of the Road" in that baby. Put an order in for one, Greg! It's only money!

You sure are spelling some nice words tonight. R U using a spell checker? ;)

OK, upon further reading, you are still mispelling more words than I expected. :-)

I read this and was thinking the same thing. Maybe he is using a ghost writer and purposely mispelled some words and not using capital I instead of small i when needed. I read it and understood all of it. Good job, Fatboy.

Though your suggestion might be a little over the top, I'd think Diamond could come up with something somewhere in between what you suggest and what Glen has to deal with.
I'm still of mixed feelings as to whether or not it should have been brought up here though.

Three seemingly unrelated points:

1) The unfortunate truth about all of this is that Diamond is a "big" company that can hire anybody it wants to deliver and set-up tables. And for any big company, unless an employee is indispensable - there are a dozen people just waiting to get their job. Most of them at less cost to the company.

2) It would take a remarkable act of charity and restraint for Diamond to concede now. And, as a business, they would be setting an incredible precedence for future delivery folk: get a new truck if you post on AZ and threaten to stop delivering.

3) As Glen relates it, this scenario sounds very reminiscent of the "fade-away break up." They call you, you don't respond. They call again, you still don't respond. They keep calling over the course of a month or two, but you still don't respond. They text and email, you ignore those too. The calls get less and less frequent. Eventually, they just stop bugging you and you're single again ;) Works every time...

Want to trade trucks, I have a LOW mileage Ford box truck I'd be willing to trade straight across with you:p :p

I don't want to hijack your thread, but could you deliver a 7 foot diamond smart table to my house in Northeast Georgia by Friday and set it up? Let me know, Thanks.

So, let me get this straight. You think I should be begging Diamond for work? As in kissing the ground they stand on, because they "Leased" me a truck for delivering their pool tables with, that started out already having more than 275thousand miles on it? And Diamond...if they showed me "Charity" and "restraint"...should have to think twice about my working for them...because I might HOLD them HOSTAGE again...for a new truck at a later date....again??????????...Is that what you're saying? Because if it is, you haven't read a single thing I've posted;)

Subcontractors are not employees. Companies do not pay taxes on sub's - they're either paid straight out and subs pay their own (pay on a PO) or they're 1099'd. Typically, subs cover their own expenses unless otherwise agreed-upon up-front.

When the guy who cuts your lawn has a problem with his lawn mower, he pays to fix it... not the person living in that house.

Edit: I promise I'm not taking sides... just clarifying. I don't know the whole story, nor who's right. I don't care, really. In every business relationship, someone is effing someone to some degree. It's all in how you work it out together. My only point was maaaaybe AZB wasn't the best move.

In my industry, employers are prohibited from supplying materials, tools etc, free of charge to independent contractors. If you supply any of the "tools of trade" they are considered employees no matter what the employer or general contractor calls them.

Maybe, you're right about AZB not being the best place to discuss this but sometimes things need to be aired out. I don't see any irreparable damage done by this thread and here's hoping that the two of them work things out. They both seem to be reasonable men.

Joey you seem like a reasonable man. Will you deliver a 7 foot diamond smart table to my house in Georgia by Friday?

I didn't read his post that way. I think he is saying if your intent was to get Diamond off their duff to give you a newer truck, it hasn't much chance of succeeding. Neither do I think if you had continued politely asking for a new truck you would have gotten it.

OK, I see what you're saying, and I would have to agree with you. My apologies for misunderstanding the meaning at first:o
