OB Break Shaft Problem

I ordered an OB Break Shaft a little over a month ago, and I absolutely love the feel it transfers on the break. I break center table, a few inches from the spot, from the box. Breaking around 60% power, and adding a wrist pop every time, gets the balls dropping and the rock squatting. Anyways, tonight I am playing a race to 7, 9 ball, and I am on the hill breaking. Same break, time after time, and guess what? The tip pops off, and flies across the room! So I go searching for it, and find it to be in perfect condition. However, on the bottom of the tip, there is a soft, glue like resin. On the top of the ferrule, there is a small divet in the center.

Has anyone had a problem like this? Ideally, the store I bought the shaft from will replace it so I can keep with the break, but if they dont, how are OB Cues to deal with in a situation like this? Frustrated!!

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

Don't hesitate to contact Royce and the guys at OB Cues. They stand behind thier products more than any other company I have run across.

Love my OB break shaft too. I haven't had that problem but I guarantee you they will stand behind their products.

I wouldn't say it was OB's fault. Anything can happen. You're not supposed to have a divot on the face of the ferrule, it's supposed to be flat. Who knows what happened. If it's like that, I would think the guy who put the tip on is responsible.

Anyway, Royce should be notified, and he will most certainly be able to point you in the right direction. OB is known for top quality customer service. You will be happy after talking to Royce, I promise.

I've not yet seen the new break shaft but construction of other shafts in the OB line include a small carbon fibre washer that sits atop the ferrule and shaft end.....when you refer to a divot in the center of the ferrule....I assume you are refering to the actual wood in center of the shaft, rather than the plastic ferrule itself. If this is the case.....and break shafts by OB use the carbon washer.....then it sounds like .....

1. You failed to find this critical part of the assembly.

2. This washer was not installed and the resulting bond between shaft wood and tip material was not as intended by the maker.

in any case what has been said about OB cues and Royce is gospel, you will be satisfied.

Royce is the BOMB!.....Ob Cues is one of the most trustworthy and honest companies that I have come across in a long time....They stand behind their products without question....you will be satisfied 100%.

I wouldnt even take it back to the store. Call royce at OB, he'll fix it,he's great. I had on ob-1 that did this. The ferrule somehow got wet and swelled. The tip popped off and took a piece of the core with it. New ferrule, tip, pad, no charge.

I had the same thing happen and both end pieces looked the same as you described, the carbon fiber pad was still in place on the tip and had some material sticking up right in the middle of the tip. The shaft had an indent in the middle of it where some of the material was missing. I sent it back to OB Cues, Royce replaced it...no charge, it just cost me the one way shipping to get it to them. I've been a distributor for OB quite a while and they ALWAYS are prompt to turn around any problem and if abuse was not involved, no charge!

that happened to mine at the DCC this year (where I bought the OB Break cue)....luckily, there were two GREAT repair guys there on site. No problem at all getting it fixed, and no problems since
