I found this at an antique store today. Kinda looks like a table leg with a 1980's gym sock on the butt cap. Anyone have any idea what type of cue this could be?

It is a 30 to 50 year old cheap import.

It's a pretty old import, probably China. Years ago, there were many, many of them around. Every banger that walked in the door had one.

Does it only have one joint? Several of these had multiple joints to fit in a small case. True story!

Yes, they had multiple joints, as I remember them. The shafts were the same cheap, cheap material as the bottom line Adam cues. Bubinga?

when i was 15 and I had been in the pool room maybe a week, this old pool hustler type sold me a cue just like that. Like Jay Helfert posted it broke down to five pieces and fit into this square box that was the size of maybe a checkers/chess box. I was thrilled ha and I took it home and showed my Mom what a great deal I got for $20. I put it together and took it apart and marvelled at how cool it was that i had this undercover cue that broke down like a james bond cue.

So there i was the next day playing with it and this other player that I knew played well broke the news to me that I had a real POS cue lol and that playing off the wall was much better. But wait I protested...with this cue i can unscrew the tip and put another one on in seconds! He just shook his head and said something about a horse and water.

a lot of these also features the shiny loose metal disks with center holes that you could optionally slip onto the various joints to adjust the weight and balance.

very forward thinking.

and middle . . . and rear, too.

best,

I saw someone using one of those about a week ago. It took a long time to put it all together and even longer for the poor guy to make his first ball of the day.
