*** Official Day Three Mosconi Cup Updates

I think that was the shot to play. Schmidt told Hall to cut that and I dont think Hall was comfortable with the shot. Mistakes made by each side so far. This match should be 3-0 usa. Rack two schmidt misplayed shape to get to the 4 ball and left hall hooked with a wide open table. Maybe its a good thing Schmidt is only playing one match today.

Schmidt is playing twice today, he's up next with Corey.

Niko makes the one on the break. THe 5 and looks like the 8 are close together on the bottom rail. 2 ball in the jaws to start his run out.

Ekonomopulos played rough last game. Lets see if he continues. Need solid play by Justin here.

I think some are being too tough on Schmidt. The safety where he accidentally made the second ball and hooked his partner could happen to anyone. And then the uber fast table got him on the nine when the CB bent just a bit coming off the end rail. Any other table, as soft as he hit it, that ball comes straight off the rail and nowhere near the side pocket. I think those two rolls just shook him up a bit.

Niko with the 4 down the rail and now to the 5 in the corner, with the 8 barely far enough away so he can cut it in. 6 by the side pocket. Shoots the 5 tremendously with pinpoint position to the 6 back down the rail in the same pocket. 7 up in the corner. Draws it back for 8 on bottom rail and tap in of the 9 for the win.

0-1

Hall with a ball on the break and runs out like water. Not much to say. He looks loose and comfortable.

1-1

I respect your right to support your fellow man Lou, but he's there representing us because he was expected to be able to handle the pressure and those shots are all shots that a top league player would make 99% of the time, let alone a professional representing his country on a world stage. He's had plenty of time to adjust to table speed, etc. He made many mistakes, not just one or even two. It was bad, real bad.

Niko with a wing ball on the break. Cue ball up table. 1 ball middle of table and into the side pocket. He doesn't even hit the side pocket. Cue ball back up the table to top rail. Niko wouldn't have had shape if he made it. Hall with a tough shot here. Let's see if he plays safe.

Good updates watchez, I think they should put you and Jim Wych together for all the matches next year

He does, put distance and a ball between cue ball and the one. Niko not sure how to kick at this one. Elects side rail, makes a solid hit causing the one ball to go back down table and cue to stay up table. Lucks out a hook back. Hall tries the massee but shot too hard and it doesn't take.

Ball in hand for Niko

Hall missed the opening shot and another shot that Schmidt told him to shoot. Beyond that he played perfect and awesome.

Are you blaming Schmidt for Hall's miss on the eight?

He also failed on a simple safety attempt on the two ball (I think in the fifth rack) that left Europe a chance to run out - and led to Schmidt's (admittedly rather unlucky) failed safety attempt where he made the six ball and hooked Hall on the four. Schmidt played the worse of the two, but Hall didn't play nearly as well as some here are making out.

Ball in hand, Niko makes the one and immediately gets on the wrong side of the 3. Nice shot in the corner, drawing to bottom rail and back up the table again. Niko plays 9 ball like an American not like a snooker player.

He should be out here but the 7 is tough right below the side pocket, 6 on the opposite rail. Great touch to come back across the table for the 7. Rolls it in with natural shape to the 8. Slight cut on the 9 and he is up

1-2

Well, we will have to agree to disagree. The table is tough and all the players are still struggling with it on Day 3. So maybe a league player on a bar box would do OK. But put them on that table, in front of that crowd, with the TV cameras, lights, and the rest, no. No one has to like it. And you can see that reflected in all the shots missed on both sides. Already these guys are doing better than last year's team when supposedly we had the creme de la creme on our team. All those guys fooked up as bad or worse than Schmidt.

I'm not going to argue with someone that has no idea what they are watching.

This is hard to watch.. I can't imagine the amount of pressure on these guys.. I'm sure the simplest of shots are rather tough for them all.. Still hoping for the best! Not ready to give up on Team USA.

I thought this was going to be a fight & instead as we enter day 3 it's just another European smash & grab job.
