Ok ..... so how 'bout this one ???

Of course Jesus was a "lefty"...just look at his philosophy of life....
free health care...
free food for the poor...
screw the banking institutions (read: money lenders)...
complete non-violence...
I can just hear him saying...
"Give me the seven and I'll send you straight to heaven".:D

(I'm going straight to hell)
You may be going straight to hell but that was funny. Besides, I think you are going to meet a lot more interesting people in hell (including me).
Probably a lot (i'm not saying all) of pool players.

Ya, and thanks a lot for posting those totally offensive lyrics

I personally much prefer the version by Chevy Chase ... "Tall People". :D

That is a very tacky avatar! JMHO
I'm not of the Christian faith but I think that the new avatar is in bad taste and/or tacky.

I believe that because of the same reasons that Terry pointed out and that would be obvious if it were some other religion or sex or race that you were poking fun at.

It's offensive, imo, because of the cigarete. It must be understood that the dude Jesus was regarded as the man who was the most in touch with the Spirit within (according to Christianity). So much in touch with that Spirit, or God within, that he became known as "The Christ"... or son of God. As such he would have no physical addictions. He might play some pool for recreation but he would not use a drug for physical pleasure. Doesn't matter if the drug were a cigarete or a joint it would still imply dependence on the drug to satisy a physical and/or mental need. Being The Christ, The Son of God, The Spirit within would provide for all his physical, psychological and mental needs so the implication that he would need a cigarete or joint would diminish his stature as the most Spiritual of men. All this according to my understanding.

We cannot poke fun at anyones sex, race, belief's (religious or political) without running the risk of deeply offending that person. Many folks consider their politics and religion to be a part of their being, their identity, the same as their sex or race, and we OWE it to each other to show each other respect.

Without that basic respect we are at war. We don't need war. We need peace.

I got a good laff out of the pic and some of the posts. I do think it's a bit of a kneejerk reaction to say "it's offensive because it implies jesus has an addiction and therefore is imperfect. To say he's not perfect is offensive." That seems like a stretch. You almost have to be TRYING to get offended, no offense meant to jim or anyone else.

For one thing, it doesn't automatically mean a guy is an addict getting a fix just because you see him smoking one cigarette one time (and this is coming from a rabid anti-smoker who does believe it's addictive and a terrible habit)... If anyone is absolutely determined to interpret the pic literally, jesus could just be smoking to be one of the gang, to fit in and go by the customs of those around him. I mean, he presumably is too perfect to have a weakness to heat or cold but he wears clothes anyway, right?

actually no, he didn't drink wine

Do your homework and then tell me why I say he didn't drink wine, not in today's common meaning of the word.
