All right, you guys win. I haven't posted on rec.sport in five years and not on cue.chalk in three.I guess my hundreds of positive posts are just forgotten but everyone sure remembers well if I get angry.I am done with posting here, too.
I don't like having to sit at home when I deserve an invite, that's for sure, especially at age 63.
As time passes, you'll see that I'm right about Charlie Williams, just as I was about Mackey and when the women went their separate way.Thanks to all of the people who have been in my corner for so long.
 
I for one don't know you personally, nor do I have any opinions one way or the other regarding this thing between you and Charlie Williams. However, you've started several threads airing your dirty laundry when a simple email or phone call between the two of you may have cleared this whole thing up.

Whether or not you deserved an invite, I'll leave that to the event planners judgement, but having a sense of entitlement sure does seem ugly.

What kind of response were you looking for anyway, a resounding wave of support?. This is a public forum, and while you have your supporters, so does Charlie Williams. You can't expect everyone to take one side or the other.

No, Grady. Nobody wins in this instance. I am sure there are quite a few folks who appreciate your contributions to the sport and consider you a one pocket phenom. You do have a great deal of wisdom about the game, all aspects of it, and it would complement this forum greatly if you did stick around and post and share a little bit of that knowledge with others.

I do not think you should refrain from participating in AzBilliards Discussion Forum. Maybe in time, you will be able to let this straight tournament upset pass by you. Sometimes one door shuts, and then another one opens. Food for thought. JMHO, FWIW!

Why not focus on the IPT, which offers you a clean slate and a fresh start? I'll be one of many here on AZB that would be pleased to see you succeed.

While I may not always agree with you, I do appreciate your opinions and insight. When it comes to these forums, you can't be too thin skinned! There will always be disenting opinions and a lot of the people show little tact when responding. If you let them run you off it's everyones loss! You have every right to express your opinions here. In fact, due to your prominance in the sport I'd say you even have something of a duty to do so! I can tell from some of your outbursts that you feel this duty as well! Don't stop expressing yourself! Just don't get too worked up when everyone does not agree! That's the purpose of these forums. To bring information to the public and open the info up to discussion. Like I've mentioned, I don't _always_ agree with you, but I have learned a lot from you over the years and you've earned my respect!

I am confused.Grady & Charlie are born under the same Zodiac sign ( Capricon) but they are not getting along.I give up.

My advice, do your thing and be you. Do not let the postings of others influence your participation. If you do, you will never be able to handle mesage boards. There is always an internet tough guy to take shots at you...

Although we don't see eye to eye all the time Grady. I have to agree with the statement made that if you decide to leave this forum we all lose. I use to battle with you all the time over issues involving Mike Zuglan and his tour among other issues. A dear friend, since departed from this life, had you and your lovely wife come to dinner with us 1 year at the annual CCB dinner at the Open. We sat and talked that day without any problems. His screen name was Chris Cass. If after all the arguements we had on the internet could be put in the past and all of us have a nice quiet dinner i see no reason why you cannot stay here and share your knowledge and wisdom with us. I guess what i am trying to say Grady is let the past be in the past and forget about the problems you have had in the past with CW and stay here and let us enjoy your knowledge....mike

I agree with a few of the replies here Grady, it doesn't help anyone if you leave the forum for good. You've been around this game long enough to know that things sometimes just don't go your way no matter what you do or say. You're obviously a great player and have been for a long time and are looked up to by many people. Your beef with CW is just that, yours. Your approach at an attempt to resolving that issue with him in this forum was less than desirable for a man of your stature in this game, IMO. Peace, John.
 
Does "cutting of your nose to spite your face" actually work?

When I was 7 I learned that it didn't, but maybe being old changes the rules.
 
Well Grady, after your little "stunt" you pulled a few years ago in Athens, Ga., while playing a local player....you really dont deserve any respect from anyone! Oh yeah...Charlie Williams is a money-hungry CLOWN himself!

Sorry Vagabond but I'm not a big star sign fan either, did you know that due to a slight "tilt" in the earth's axis that you are not actually the star sign you think you are, your sign has in fact shifted by one. Given this I find it hard to believe in the stars :confused:

"Precession of the equinox is caused by the fact that the axis of the earth's rotation (which causes day and night) and the axis of the earth's revolution around the sun (which marks the passage of each year) are not parallel. They are 23 l/2 degrees away from lining up; that is, the earth's axis of rotation is tilted. This tilt also causes our seasons, a fact that Ptolemy did understand but that many people do not understand even today. Ptolemy understood that the rotation axis of the earth was slowly precessing, or moving in a circle, with an angular radius of 23 1/2 degrees with a period of around 26,000 years. Grady- Sorry to see you go. I met you at the Windy City Open a few years ago and picked up your book. Before then, I had no idea who you were and that you had pretty much devoted your life to pool. ( I was new to the sport). Since then, I have enjoyed immensely your commentary and play on the straight pool tapes I have. Your instructionals are very good, as well.

I would have liked to have seen your name in the mix at the straight pool championships along with Mike Zuglan, but with the state of straight pool today, I'll take what I can get and hope for better. I agree that it's probably misnamed as a World Championship, but who really cares? Maybe the event will generate more exposure for the game and help resuscitate it.
