Old Chalk and tips from the 30's or 40's

I recently bought a 97 year old BBC 9 foot table from two sisters that live here in Matthews NC, it had been in the basement of there house for 75 years. There dad was a Charlotte police chief and has been dead for 45 years so the table wasen't played on for that long at least. The sisters gave me a box of National Tournament Chalk called THE WORLDS BEST that was made in or sold by Standard Billiard Supply Co - 40 S Baltimore 1. Maryland. they also threw in two boxes of asst. Silver King Tips that were also called THE WORLDS BEST and made from special treated leather with every tip guranteed, The chalk is working awesome and I have always used blue Masters and this is very similar and I now like it better. If anyone out there collects old chalk or used it back when and liked it I have about 50 cubes that I would sell very reasonable but only a couple pieces to the person. I would like to here what Jay Helfert and Bob Jewett think about the old chalk.--Leonard

I have a large collection of Antique chalk and tips. These item's are from late 50's to the mid-60's.

Thanks Manwon I was not sure but the two sisters I bought the table from told me nobody had played on the table since there dad died over 45 years ago and didn't know how long the stuff was there before he died. I have been using the chalk so let me know what you think about it.--Leonard
 
Hey Leonard, Payment went today, can't wait to try the chalk. I started playing in 1967 so it may be the same I used at that time. Used to have to sneak into the pool hall cause I wasn't 16 at the time...

I don't think either of them are still made but this might be what turned into Masters chalk, Johnny Archer asked if anyone had a piece of the old Masters chalk he could use at the Camel tenball tourney here in Charlotte in 1999 so they must have changed there formula some time before then.--Leonard

You can get those tips from Meuller, and NTC is still around I have a cube Im using now, differnt label tho...

I have learned something and was surprised how good this old stuff works, it had to be real old for them to label it made in Baltimore 1. Maryland. I think the box has a 4 digit telephone number it is so old.--Leonard

I saw somewhere that the older chalk was actually chalk like you use to write on a chalkboard, whereas the new chalk is made of a combination of different materials.
