I have been gathering pictures of Joss Cues from old brochures etc.
These are for the people that have old Joss Cues without a serial number.
If you have an old Joss and not sure of what you have look around in here. Come back every now and then because I?ll continue to add to these old pictures.
I have tons of old photos but they have to be scanned in and then posted so as I do a bunch I?ll put them up.

Here are two Joss Cues I have:

I am curious how old the above one is?
Also I am curious what it would cost to refinish and put appropiate original Joss logo on the below cue. I was told it was a Nick Varner World Champion series. I have had it since the late 80's and someone had refinished it then and removed the logo.

Does any one remember what the name Joss stands for? It was a saying in there old catalogs. Some thing about it being Chinesse? Just wondering?

I've heard that it's Japanese and that it translates to Joy - Happiness.
Just what I heard.

Word Origin & History

joss
"Chinese figure of a deity," 1711, from Chinese Pidgin English, from Javanese dejos, from Port. deus "god," from L. deus (see Zeus). Colloquially, it came to mean "luck." Joss stick "Chinese incense" first recorded 1883.

There you have it! The bolded reference was what I had always understood it to mean...thanks to James Clavell. I thought it was a great name for a cue company.

Yes that's what I've been told with one other detail. I heard that Danny had a dog named Joss which was the inspiration.

A few people have requested a picture of my 68 Joss.
Still straight as a die after 44 years.
I've always tried to take care of it....but it aint no 'wall-hanger'...
...thousands of hours of action...used to break with it too.
Refinished once by Paul Mottey and once by Ron Kady.

I too would like to see some pictures of cues from the 68 to 72 era. Think I just bought one. Would like to confirm.
