Old Joss on Ebay

This logo looks to be a home made deal! I would want a letter from Dan Janes. Plus the price is ?????

He contacted me. Sent a couple emails back and forth. Here is the 2nd email.

well sir ur 100%wrong as i do have the email sent from mr janes also mr stroud wasnt with joss then it was timmy scruggs when hand done without machinery thats what it looks like exactly hope you now know what confused and misinformed u.plz ask me any question instead of airing out doubt of authenticity as this is wrong to do unless u know what negetivity your talking about on az every pro player and cuemaker is getting hurt thru the forums full of wrong info@negetivity which keeps pool in the gutter so plz lets not be a part of killing our great sport.no info is way better then wrong info as only posters from wrong info will be from people with more wrong info hope this clears up your doubts on ****edup logo thats perfect especially after 35yrs.marty

Whether it is a Joss or not isnt the question I had as the pics you just cant tell. But I say homemade logo.

You just had your first meeting with Marty Herman. He's been around for a long time, and is quite the character! A search on this forum will probably have a thread or two about him...:D

"Joss"

Yes this is a Joss Cue. I know it well. It was made in 1974 by me. The Joss engraving is so rough looking because its one of the first ones I did. When Billy and I were together we each had our things we did best he was by far the better engraver. When we went our separate ways I had to learn quick how to do this part of the job. I got better through the years but this is one of my old cues. I just had it in the shop maybe two years ago and did a refinish and I think one of the shafts is new. It had Ivory ferrules and Champion tips ... when it left the shop.
I haven't engraved a cue in 20 years now ..

1974 joss

This is a 1974 JOSS cue. I purchased this cue in November of 2008 from Dan Janes who is a longtime friend of mine. He was selling 3 cues from the early 1970's for a friend and original owner of the cue who was 80+ years old and could not play anymore. Danny gave me first crack at buying any or all 3 and I bought this one.

I traded the cue a few weeks later to Troy (AKA KOINNKID) for a GINA and some cash. Troy also questioned the JOSS logo and contacted Danny who of course verified it and Troy and I completed the trade for the GINA. I assume Troy sold the cue to the person on Ebay that is now selling it.

I played with the cue for a few weeks and it plays very well.

Bottom line is you can be assured this is a JOSS from 1974 and everything said about the cue on Ebay is correct.

Well if the seller reads this, they'd do themselves a huge favor by removing the word ivory from the auction.

Fleabay, in their infinite retardism, will wait until the last minute before they pull the auction (thereby ruining the sellers day, and all the action the cue may bring) for breaking their most recent rule changes about selling ivory.
