An older gentleman comes in to play some pool and he has this old case and cue.

So I ask him about it and he says he bought it in 1974 from a very well known custom cue maker. He was told it was made by Bob Meucci for a player (not sure how the custom maker ended up with it). To me the cue looks like an early Meucci have no clue about the case both have no markings.

He also has an old Palmer and Joss West I am going to post pictures in a different thread to try an get a value of.

These cues may be up for sale if he can get a value.

Thanks for any help

Looks like a Meucci prototype to me. Can't say about the case, Fellini style, but I don't think it is one.

Could be a meucci but Bob didn't start the company until 1975. To me it looks very Huebler-ish (my opinion) which is were Bob was working before start up of Meucci I believe. I have no idea of the value but a really nice looking cue.

Do the shafts have plastic inserts in them? Should be a 5/16 x 18 pin. The brass pin is correct for an early meucci.

The case looks like a Viking to me too. Not overly valuable ~$100-$150 and the cue looks more Huebler than Meucci to me...but this is just off the cuff, it is gorgeous and worth a little research.

Good insights about the brass pin and also the shaft inserts. Huebler used plastic.

After another look, it does remind me of a Hubler in the points.

Old meucci

That looks like one of the cue he built while working in Pauls Shop
I have a pic of one just like it and it is signed Custom byMeucci

My 2x4 Adam has the exact same color cloth divider, and fellini uses a different style of tacks for the bottom. I think it's Adam 1x2 case. You can check the forsale section to get an idea of the price range.

IMO those are collectable Meucci cues.

99% are not.

Those to me are the real deal.

Strange, but interesting...I bought my first cue (a Meucci) in 1971 from Dixie Billiards in Harvey IL. While it didn't have any "Meucci" identification on it, the dealer had several Meucci cues in his store. I still have the cue.
