I often wonder if today people get lost in the
Computer world and just forget about simple wood working with a lathe with an indexer, table saw and jointer. Ya know, the basics that are just fun to work with.
A taper bar on the lathe, an indexer and a router gives you total control of where your cuts can be. Even to get that full splice look and how high the points join to one another. Some call it work, I call it fun.

"takes a lot of tedious effort to get the point /veneer work to look that good and clean.

Thank you. Everytime you unwrap a forearm. It's a surprise. If you cross your T's and dot your I's. That's 3/4 of the battle. Veneering can always make you scratch your head.

i wouldn't kick any of m out of bed, however, i really fancy the 6 pt ebony forearm piece
 
Very pretty cue!
& I am not a fan of hi-lo points.
Usually makes my eyes hurt. I doubt i could play with one.
But that is elegant.
Also wish i had a mind for colors. Would like to add veneers at some point, but just can't visualize what would look good.

Need to be careful how i say this. No disrespect or lack of regard for those the C-19 has impacted or lost family members. Or the economic impact for many. But for a shop rat like me, it has almost been a vacation. The wife can't drag me out of the shop 2-3 times a week for some social event, or go on errands, or this that or the other thing. Little fear of getting totally lost on the 'net. Always a risk i'll go in one of my caves and only come up for air at significant steps in a project. :)

Veneering is something I think everyone should try. Matching colors is always a task. But... You have a wife. Women know stuff. I grew up with 4 older sisters. It went something like this:

Not trying to be out of line in regards to which forum this is in, but would you mind sharing what style of router bit you are using for your points?
