Why?

Why would you cover koa? What does this weigh?

The tonal quality of koa is fantastic, which is why it is used in guitars and ukuleles are made of it. So to cover it up is not a sin, just a much higher quality handle wood than maple, not to say maple isnt good...

I'd say "nice cue" but...it gets old quick. :p

Hot shot. LOL

Gorgeous friggin' cue. Your plain janes are nice...but your 6 and 8 pointers are just really top notch Eric. Thanks for sharing. :-)

started typing a reply and it was gone so if I repeat myself ooops. Thanks for the answers. I was always under the impression that handles, if not for added decoration, were maple, PH, or a laminate.

Whoever loved the ringwork, ME TOO. Cue is nice, I was sorta asking an academic question.

Absolutely stunning!!!! The more work I see of yours the closer I get to my dream cue!!

could have been a plain looking piece of Koa.i have soem old growth Koa in the shop and it is fairly dense, but not very pretty, but good tone as someone already said.

Kos is the wood that makes me curious about the "tap-tone" testers.the tap tone on koa when you bounce it off the floor is very dead sounding, but when you put it in a cue it makes an excellent feeling cue with great feedback.

one other reason it might be in this cue is to soften the hit.Olivewood is extremely hard, crisp hitting and the koa handle would be an excellent choice to dampen the hit a little bit,but not lose the tone or feedback,if that makes any sense.

Beautiful cue. I can only imagine the toxic dust in making that.
Koa handle?
K, send me all slow growth maple handle woods. The uglier, the better.

is Koa toxic?i cut up about 4 big boards of it wednesday and my sinuses are still messed up.i cut up a bunch of Cocobolo and Hybrid Belizean Rosewood Rosewood.i didn't know which one got me.

No, coco is.
I have an olivewood with braz rosewood handle in the works right now.

Olivewood is nice and hits great. I got 1 from Masonh. Kao is another wood that hits very well and the tone is music to the ears. The Curly Kao handled cue that I got from Eric looks ugly in a beautiful kinda way.

Nice looking cue you got there. Congrats to the owner.

LMAO. Hey Eric...he just called the cue you made him UGLY. I will gladly take his spot in line for future cues. :p LOL

I know which cue you're talking about Blowfish...and I kinda share your sentiment.
