I have a decision to make and I would like anyone that's used either to chime in- if you feel like you might be slighting one or the other you can pm if you prefer, thanks

Arnots dont seem to hold their resale value too well ... I had an Arnot that I bought for 600 and had to sell for 400 a month later ... Big hit !! Might be better off with a Varney. As a matter of fact he's got his for sale on here. Good price too !!

i have used both and i like the Arnot.Omen actually makes a playing better cue and does a little better work, but one thing Arnot does well is j/b's.his j/b's are all very solid and break and jump very well.the Omen's have a long jump handle whic is good for accuracy, but loses ground in getting over real close balls like the Arnot.i can get over accurately from half a ball with the Arnot.you can get them used pretty cheap, but they are a little high when purchased new.i have had 3-4 or them and wish i had them back.they are hadr to beat for a j/b.doublesteer is right about the value.like i said before don't buy new or you will take a beating.Vayney's are similar to the Omen, very long jump handle.i know Kevin Varney and the followers will disagree but it is easier to get over balls quick if they are close with a shorter jump handle.it is common sense.

honestly. ive had or tried every j/b on the market and this is the best j/b cue ive even had.

fury j/b under 150$ and u cant go wrong

i break harder and more accurate. shaft isnt ultra fat and leather wrap give a little exrta grip

also i control the jump better. i can play position with this cue off the jump. follow, draw , and some times use a hair of left or right

i sold my sledgehammer immediatly. (orig mike not cheap import)

To each his own....I can do all of those same things, but I have a custom Willee Jump/Break. I have never found a jump/break that worked for me as well as that one. I however also jump with a leather tip instead of phenolic, so....?

well said. i personally cant jump with a leather tip however i can almost jump the ball off the table full legnth with phenolic. go figure

anyway you look at it your spending 150$ and not 600$ like prev stated

yea. i know how it is. my MG sledgehammer sucked. just wasnt the cue for me. it was an orig MG that he made not japaneese or mcdermott junk

about 5 or 6 yrs ago i converted a players into a j/b and glued on a phenolic tio not 1 pc. ive sold/traded that cue and reaquired it 3 times. it keeps finding me :D :D :D
breaks a ton with a 12mm shaft

rings my ears everytime

this may be the deal of the century

I had an Arnot Rapier, which is one of his pricier cues..
It had the Terminator shaft.... I have to say it was one of the worst hitting cues I ever owned, and they definately do NOT hold their value...
I have not tried one of his J/B's

ouch...:D :D :D

when i started reading your post i didnt expect to read that. lol

I've got either available

Well, I've got a GORGEOUS Omen J/B with a Rosewood handle and HF Birdseye Maple forearm and it breaks the balls fantastic >>>> check it out here >>>> http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=70447

Also, I've got a Varney 2001 J/B which I refer to as a "converted" cue that I had to make a new shaft for.....it's very light at 17 oz and has an Aegis ferrule and a layered leather SuperPro tip -- not your normal setup from Kev ;) -- but, it breaks the balls extremely well too.

I'm not a ball jumper so I can't comment on either but, it seems that they would be just fine if you have the ability   :D :p ;) :)

LMAO

Sorry..... I'm a little blunt sometimes, but I stand by it 100%..
Also, I may be new here but I have had my share of custom cues...
funny b/c I have seen 3 of my old cues on here in the last 2 weeks....
Cue trading is a small world I guess....

Omen

I have had good experiences with my Omen jump cues. The longer forearm does make a huge difference in accuracy and the cues break superbly. Pete has matched several of my playing cues (wood types or inlay patterns) and in every instance, I have been very satisfied. I encourage you to buy an Omen.

I agree with you,i had 2 of them, the first one i never jumped with and just broke with it so i sold it.I picked up another for like $50 from a guy and one day i said let me try to jump and i was doing it on the first try,it was just too easy and helped me in alot of games.I cant jump with a regular tipped j/b though,i am not sure why but anyone can jump with a phenolic.:)

BPG24 that was my old cue.i bought it from Arnot and it was the biggest piece of crap i have ever had besides a Chad Carter i had when he was getting started.this is the cue i was referring to when i said Omen makes a better player and does better work.i got this cue in the mail brand new and the finish was peeling off.Arnot made ggod on the finish, but it was still one of the worst playing cues i ever owned.for some reason the cue ball deflected in measruements of inches instead of mm with this cue.if you hit a shot real hard with inside english on a big table you might miss the entire ball.unbeleivabley bad playing cue.sorry you ended up with it.back on the subject his j/b's are good and better than Omen imo.

More feedback please.

I was considering ordering a cue from Arnot, but after reading the negative feedback, I am having second thoughts. Could you please PM with with more details on what you liked and disliked about these cues? Out of respect for Arnot and other cuemakers I request that you do not soil their product here on the open forum. To be fair, I'll have to speak with Arnot about your comments to get his side of the story.

Best regards

Break cues

Given the choice between those 2 I dont know.

I have had 2 that I can recommend.

Gilbert - Good break cue, excellent player.

Mace (Rick Howard) - GREAT break cue - Good player.

Its what you want.
