On average how far do you drive to go shoot pool on a regular basis? 5, 15, 30 or more miles? Just trying to get some feedback on average trips. Thanks for your responses!

Depends...If I want to play on bar tables I can drive as little as 0.3 miles. If I want to play on quality 9 footers I have to drive at least 100 miles.

That's a large part of the reason that I'm moving soon. :)

Interesting.

The thread is titled "How far do you drive to play pool?"

After clicking on my answer, I see the poll is titled "How far will you drive to play pool?" A totally different question, and totally different discussion.

For the record, I entered 5 miles, as I have three places to play on 9-footers within that distance.

I will drive further, for league events and other tournaments, as time and family obligations allow. It's 130 miles each way to our state league tournament, which is in 3 weeks. I go a room 30 miles away semi-regularly, and another about 45 miles away every once in a while.

Many days I walk 1.25 Miles each way.

My commute to play pool is pretty short. Just need to back my car out onto the driveway so I have room on that side of the table to make my stroke. :grin-square:

My car doesn't see the inside of the garage (pool room) but the bike does.
The wife complains a little about wishing she could park in there in the winter, but she has learned to deal with it. Keeps me at home most days..
When I do go it is about 35 miles round trip..

I make the 16 mile drive (one way) a minimum 3 times a week, 4 times a week is not unusual.

When I do make the trip, I spend from 6 hours minimum up to 12 hours total.

I've been thinking of cutting back, but that thought passed rather quickly. :D

Some things in Texas are that far. There's a few pool halls closer than 30 miles, but I'd drive that far for a particular tournament. Heck, I went to Vegas for a BCA tournament. lol

Two-car garage? Lucky devil! :D

Yeah, my garage is 20 feet wide so there was plenty of room. Rather than place the table in the middle and take up all the space, I just put it a little over 5' from one wall and there is plenty of space for a car.

It was a reasonable concession to the wifey. I had the garage filled with crap for a long time and she always bugged me about not being able to park her car in there. So when I decided to clean it out to make room for a table there was no way I could do that without making sure she could get her car in there. When I first told her what I was thinking of doing she said to me, "You can do whatever you want with your half of the garage. I'm parking my car in my half." :grin-square:

I guess I'm lucky to have two rooms with about 30 nice brunswick 9 footers between the two rooms, all within 5 miles from my house. So that is how far I normally drive.

I have driven hundreds of miles to play in some tournaments. So, I answered 5 miles.

Where I live at LEAST an hour to get on 9'. If the tree watchers are on vacation taking pictures of leaves longer. OR I could play with the local drunks with the ever so intelligent bar rules of no safeties but 2 way shots.

I drive an hour there and an hour back.

I usually play at Q-Masters in Virginia Beach, VA which is an hour from where I live in Elizabeth City, NC.

I already like your wife and I have never even met her...lol

I drive 92+ miles round trip three times a week to Montgomery, AL to shoot pool. (I live way out in the boonies.) So I make a day of it. I am at the Breakroom when it opens at 2:00 and I don't leave until league is over. Then I stop for groceries, gas, whatever on the way home to justify all that driving time and gas. The Breakroom has all Diamond tables 12 7-footers and 2 9-footers. Great place to play! They are in the process of building a new bigger and better room with at least 6 nine footers.

I am very lucky to live right about in the map center of the best two pool rooms in town and either one is less than ten minutes away.

There is league play and just shooting pool.

League play requires a 40 min commute thats with traffic.

I think there are at least 5 pool halls within 5 miles of where I live.
I pass 3 of them to play at Sandcastle.
