On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Played my first match. poor Guy.........

Unfortunate deal but the deal now is to play and play focused.

I'm more determined than ever right now.

See you at 6:00..........

I was trying things with this new shaft I am using. It's laminated but with one difference. It's not as stiff as most.

I missed 3 times trying things on these tables. One time I made the cash, accident and the other 2 times I hooked the guy.

I need to win one more match and then I play Glen Atwell.

Need to stay focused.........

Smoking Rots The Brain, Study Says

As if lung cancer and deteriorating teeth weren't enough, here's another reason to avoid cigarettes: They could be rotting your brain.

...'smoking produced perhaps the most dramatic results, as it was the only factor that seemed to be linked to global cognitive degredation.'

...'The research also implies that these factors could lead to more complex problems, such as dementia. "Cognitive decline as we age can develop into dementia, ...'

...'While this study addresses long-term effects of smoking, the inhalation of cigarette smoke often has some much more obvious negative side-effects. According to the National Institutes of Health, smoking causes about 443,000 deaths each year and is responsible for 90 percent of lung cancer in men and 80 percent of lung cancer in women.'

I hope many people see this. We only have one brain and one life. It's a shame that so many people are addicted and are killing themselves.

But it's another thing that the government lets people poison other people with second hand smoke with all the proof out there and documented.

I smoked until I was about 30 years old. Knowing the facts, I could not smoke in a place knowing that I might be killing someone else. I could not do that to another human being.

I go in these smoking poolhall and people blow it in your face or set it in the ashtray right under your nose.

There's something really wrong with this.

Even the people that act like they are trying to keep it directly from going in your face. if they really gave a damn they wouldn't smoke in there at all. Why even pretend like you care.

I smoked and was oblivious to anything bad that it could do to anyone. This was back in 1971 to 1982. I was a very inconsiderate person back then. I think the nature of addiction does this to us. We will do just about anything to protect an addiction if we are addicted.

Everyone that smokes is an addict. They are slaves to the cigerette companies and I feel really bad for them. I hope everyone the best of luck that is trying to quit.

Life would be so much better for them ...

Thanks again............

Bunk.

Listen, stop with the smoking stories already. You voluntarily go into smoky places and then always have these problems. Waiting for and wanting men with guns to "fix" it with some legislation is not where your power lies and doesn't help the game you love.

Either quit going into such places or shutup and deal with YOUR CHOICES.

Sorry, but man, I'm sick of these excuses for having more and more government interfering with pool. (Mods, YES this IS pool related.)

Finally, a voice of reason in this thread. Road stories are one thing, but when they're soap-boxed with an agenda (i.e. anti-smoking, and even political), the entertainment factor of the "story" is lost.

I'm a non-smoker and I personally woe the dangers and annoyance of second-hand smoke. Although they are extremely RARE here in the northeast (smoking is allowed indoors only for VFW Posts, USO stations, and certain private/exclusive clubs), I make the decision to either stay out of them, or else tolerate the smoke and say nothing -- because it's my choice to be there.

I recommend Geno get back on track with the stories, and leave out the squeaky whining (and especially political agenda) of secondhand smoke. "We get it" -- he doesn't like and has issues with it -- but it was/is his decision to go into those establishments in the first place.

And even if Zack becomes a champion, you didn't build that, don't you realize that Obama was reelected?

I don't mean to pick on Gene...I like Gene a whole lot and respect what he's doing for pool even more. He's added a major benefit to MY pool game when I took a lesson from him earlier this year.

Just like in a pool shot, each of us holds more power to effect positive change than we might think we do. A proper "aiming technique" works in these political matters that affect pool greatly, too.

I love ya, Geno!

I listen to the whine about the whine and it all gets old soon enough.

I think Gene's side message about smoking and the effects that it can have on your pool game are valid.

I could be wrong but I think Gene believes he is approaching the end of his life cycle and he wants to share his perspective to anyone who will listen. He made mistakes like we all do and smoking was one of them. I think that he believes as I do that as you approach the end of your life, you would like to help someone along the way, whether it be with their pool game or their health or something else. I think when you're still in the prime of your life, you don't think as much about helping others, you're still scurrying around the table of aplenty whisking up each and every crumb. After it sinks in, you start to say to yourself, "Well, I screwed that up but maybe I can help someone else" and so it goes. Gene tells his life story and it's not your agenda and you and others whine that the smoking discussion shouldn't be in the main forum.

Like most threads about subject matter that you don't agree with or that you just dislike, why don't you just turn the page instead of trying to make other people talk about what YOU want them to talk about. It kind of reminds me about how others whine about how big brother tries to run our lives.

For me, if I dislike what others are writing about in the main forum, I simply go on to the next thread or post, unless they are being mean-spirited just for their own sport. I'm not saying that's what you or Sean are doing by any stretch of the imagination but if you don't like what someone is writing about, just ignore their posts like I do. It really isn't worth the whining about the whining.

So what was this thread all about, "On the Road Again, With Perfect Aim". It's good to see the things that Gene is sharing with us. This is priceless and to attempt to throttle Gene's style even if it is unbecoming to you personally, is folly in itself, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Hope your whine doesn't spoil his cheese. :D

I happen to agree with Jeff. I enjoy reading most of Gene's commentary. I think by now, I've got the fact that he detests smoking.

I'll bet you if I would mention that I think the anti smoking nazis should all mind their own business and the government should not be able to dictate to private business owners they ban the use of a legal product in their business, I would get more than one person jumping me for posting this opinion instead of simply ignoring it.

Since Gene utilizes AZ as his unpaid personal advertising media, I would think he would want everybody to read his posts instead of ignore them. Perhaps that is an incorrect assumption however. And BTW, before you feel the need to defend Gene's posting habits for advertising here, don't. I could care less, I don't own the site and Gene's posting doesn't bother me in the least (except for the anti smoking rants).

Just trying to help.......

If one person quits smoking a year from something I put on here or even just tried to quit, this is huge.

I hope I can make just a small difference.

After not being in the smoke for many years I made the choice to play in the south where the smoking is still allowed in many states.

The results to my health are horrible. It was a big mistake for me.

Now that I'm at Big Dogs in Des Moine, my lungs, nose, throat and whole body are saying thank you. I hope I survive with no permanent health issues. Right now it still doesn't look good. Still have trouble breathing especially when I lay down to sleep.

I just feel I need to speak up against something that is killing so many people everywhere.

Most people don't have the opportunity to put themselves in the smoke after not being in it for a long time and experience all the bad results that happen immediately and just get worse.

Did anyone know that 90% of all lung cancer is directly related to cigerrette smoke. The stats are all there on the internet. All a person has to do is look.

Think about it. That's terrible.

This is fact not fiction. Real life or death........

How I felt the last 6 months breathing in the smoke is not living. Can't wait to recoup 100%

Big dogs Free seminar tongiht........

At 7:00 I will be doing a FREE seminar at Big Dogs.

Zack I'm sure will be in action as usual with someone. Got to keep him in the box.

Allot of good players here in Des Moines. They all seem to run out pretty good. great pool city.

The seminar is little mini lessons teaching players how to really line up from the preshot to getting down on the shot using Perfect Aim. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes per player and this alone can be a game changer.

This allows the player to see with their own eye what a difference it makes to have the eyes in the most correct position.

The players that can't afford the full lesson learn some valuable info for Free.

The players that want to improve their game and can afford it can schedule the personal Perfect Aim lesson.

It's a win win all the way around. There will be no playing for me and when the night is over I will be really ready for the pillow.

Zack got a good night of sleep, about 10 hours. He'll be tough tonight whoever he plays.

2 men a van and the road.........

A couple of good friends (married couple who play pool),just quit.I think they are done for good, they are doing well. They bought a new car to commemorate/celebrate quitting. One of my sisters quit again and I hope she sticks to it.

I see a lot of people who are long time smokers who are finally able to kick the habit and it brings a smile to my face when I hear of a new quitter:smile:

Geno - One thing you keep leaving out of your stories is what type of table you are playing on. I'm envisioning you playing mainly on bar tables for some reason. Is that accurate? Just curious.

A slave is someone who has no choice. Anyone who smoke is not a slave to anyone or anything. The may be addicted but they are not enslaved.

I personally dislike the use of the wrong terms to describe something that is not true. Slavery is real and still exists in the world. It is when a person is forced to work against their will with escape being either impossible or dangerous.

Nicotine is a drug. People use it by choice. People stop using it by choice. People go into places that allow smoking also by choice. If you do not want to "work" in places that are filled with smoke then mark those places on your map and avoid them.

Personally I consider dealing with smoky poolrooms to be an occupational hazard of the business I am in. I prefer to be in smoke-free environments but I know full well that to ply my trade I am going to find myself in smoky situations. That is a personal choice I have made.

I agree with those who say that the complaining about the smoke is making the thread less entertaining. Sorry but I like the stories and the adventure but smoke is there and that's your cross to bear. We just don't need to be reading about it every day.

This thread has the potential to be super interesting and a continuing advertisement for Perfect Aim. But if it becomes a crusade against smoking then it WILL devolve and eventually be closed for good.

2 balls side by side will not even think of going on these tables.

Did not receive your video?

OK the video arrived today 17days? No wonder USPS broke. Sorry Geno but thanks. Looks like an accurate lesson Geno.

I just got into Minot, Nd yesterday. Gave 2 lessons at The Rack. Nice poolhall.

After giving those 2 lessons with and the players explaining to others how well Perfect Aim works, I have 10 lessons set up in the next 4 days.

3 today, 3 Wed, 3 thursday and 1 on Friday. I can only do 3 a day.

I have my camera with me and I'm going to try and interview each player before and after. I need to show the world that these Perfect Aim lessons are 99% successful.

Just trying to help players play better wherever I go.

Just one man that has it right and knows for sure it's right. In 3 years of teaching this my enthusiasm has never waivered.

My claim that Perfect Aim will cut your misses in half is an underestimate.

What a great little pool community here in Minot, ND. They really love their pool.

Gotto go have some fun. First lesson is at 3:15.

Have a great day. Geno.............

Geno you charge much too much and then dont ship the vieo?

This is some funny stuff here. Yes you could of just reminded Gene that you haven't received your DVD, but instead you have to take a jab at the value of Gene's product. Pretty low and... transparent as hell.

Gene's course has paid for itself many times over for me in the short time that I have been using it. In my opinion it's priceless. The DVD.....Gene may be waiting to get you the new one that's coming out soon. If I was Gene I would go ahead and send you the old one if he hasn't already.

Ray

No funny stuff

Good video arrived after 12 days on the USPS road.
