At one of the local poolhalls here I braved the smoke thinking that maybe I could handle a little second hand smoke.
The mistake for me was my nose started running uncontrollably now again. My sinuses are all jammed up. I finally woke up at 7:00PM tonight after trying to sleep and breath and waking up 100's of times. Been in bed trying to sleep for 14 hours.
I will have to go on another regiment of antibiotics. This sinus infection will not go away. I had these side effects from the smoke for 4 months before and it doesn't feel like it will get any better this time either on it's own. I thought I had a virus or something before. Not at all. It was side effects from the smoke.
The day after being in the smoke I woke up and could hardly get to the bathroom for a shower. Wobbly and disoriented. This was not fun at all.
Then I had to do 3 lessons that day. Like a trouper I did the one at 2:00 PM and did the other 2 from 5:30 PM to 1:30 AM. I had a very hard time driving back to the room and when I layed down and was having trouble breathing I knew what I was in for.
The next day I called a bunch of the players that had wanted Phone lessons and worked with some of them. Got pretty luck and did about 7. There was no way I could physically do any lessons in person that day or the next.
This is the third day since then. I bought a steamer so I could inhale as much moisture as I can and kind of try to clean out the pipes. This is Monday. I was in the smoke wed and thur nights.
Glen told me he also can't go into that place at night because of the smoke.
To me it's pretty simple. These businesses need to step up to the plate and protect the people that the laws are trying to protect. These laws were made by the people voting on it. They don't want to get sick anymore or feel bad or smell bad from something they don't want or have anything to do with.
So i go to the non smoking states only to run into all these smoking traps where the business are either totally ignoring the smoking laws or making not so good efforts to keep the smoke out of the main business and out of their customers lungs.
I'm just trying to stay alive and have some fun and teach some pool.
We are all nice people out there. Smokers and non smokers. I know that many of the smokers won't be around when I come back in 10 years if I'm still around.
I'm just trying to stay alive.
There are states where smoking in public places is prohibited and there are pool halls out there where smoking is not permitted indoors. For your health and well-being, it's up to you to find them.
