I am finishing up a cnc machine that would work great for someone in a small to mid size shop gantry style
will cut and tapper 3 shafts or butts at one time
can cut square to round also 1,2 or 3 at a time
has a 4th axis indexing fixture with adjustable tail stock
also has a parts cutting table
all this one machine
will come with computer and software to run this
mach and bob-cad plug and play ready to go
this will have a head with 3 kress routers
or change head for one 3 hp router to cut big logs
this has 3 shaft fixtures,1 inlay fixture and parts table
machine is 90% done and will be ready the first week in may
i will post pictures in the near future
thanks.........Lee

this will have 4 adjustable tail stocks with it one for each fixture
also a 4th axis fixture
a vacume table and 3 parts tables example when not tappering shafts
you can slide on a table on each od the 3 fixtures now yyou can cut parts on 3 tables at the same time if you want use a different inlay material on each table or the same on all 3 . the machine will have 3 kress routers mounted on it so you can taper 3 shafts or butts at a time this has a foot print of 3'x4' aluiminum table top with the ablity to add fixtures if you want .i am hoping for mid may to finish this machine at that point i will run it in my shop first to make sure any bugs are all worked out. thanks Lee

as they said in jersey "it died on the vine" i still have everything just busy with other projects but if anyone would have interest id be glad to talk to them and customize it to there liking thanks for asking..lee

Lee,

I can't see a means to adjust each lathe bed assembly for taper and or cutter size differences. It really doesn't matter if you can cut 3 at a time if they are all different.

As anyone who have worked with multi spindle machines can attest, the hardest part is tuning in all the different spindles. Remember, we are cutting on the side of the shaft, so if we are .002" difference from one spindle to another, or even from one end to another, you are talking about .004" difference in diameter.

What you are attempting is certainly doable, but you MUST have a simple easy way to adjust each router and each end of the lathe beds. If not, tuning this thing will be a nightmare.

Been there and done that!
