Extraordinary level of self-delusion...
In these pics the ivory might not be legal(and who really knows, the corruption is so deep), but it wasnt poached. THAT IM POSITIVE OF.
Thank you for contributing from your experience.
I would only add that we cannot see all the ivory in the pieces. Such a large haul is likely collated from a number of sources. It is not unlikely at all that there is poached ivory in there and we just can't see it.
I have nothing against hunting for sport or profit, and I have nothing against protecting the species. It is where the two notions meet that the controversy arises. Poaching is something I have a huge issue with.
Responsible practices should always be the norm.
I disagree with your characterization that elephants are so plentiful they are "like cows", but I disagree with the other extreme as well.
Their environment is shrinking....yes there is still a lot, but it is artificially divided which complicates matters and there are serious problems.
They are victimized for their ivory, that can't be denied. It is a sensitive matter.
They are indeed dangerous game as you point out. They can kill any other land animal and do so quite easily.
Happily, nature is far more powerful than any anemic closed minded self-absorbed liberal. More tuskless elephants are being born every year. They are being naturally selected for by the ivory trade. Not that I like the loss of tusks, but it is preferable to the loss of elephants.
This is a controversial subject. Those that demonstrate dismay with your contribution on the topic are only letting their severe limitations show.
I don't hunt. I do shoot and have done so since an early age. There are numerous hunters in my family, I just never caught the urge.
I have no issue with protecting elephants, nor with controlling ivory trade. I also have no issue with legal hunting, even if it is just for sport.
I do have issue with those who choose to take the low road and insult others in these matters, regardless of their position.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You probably have lucid moments...probably......

The non-hunter never understands that
it isn't about killing. How can they if
they have never done it?
Pictures aren't the same.
Hunting is not for everyone, just like
pool or tennis or golf is not for
everyone.
There are different levels of hunting,
again just like pool or tennis or golf.
A banger might walk away from pool
and be critical of it, never really
understanding what the game is about.
The non-pool player doesn't understand
what pool is about.
The non-hunter doesn't understand what
hunting is about.
But everyone is entitled to an opinion about
pool or hunting, no matter how little
understanding they have.
WOW, you guys missed the boat on this one. Fatboy repeatedly said that ever elephant he shot, the entire thing was consumed. He also gave you the straight info from his PERSONAL, FIRST HAND, experience. If you guys are getting you info from the TV and the Internet it must definitively trump his first hand account.
I'm guessing he killed an elephant for the experience. I've heard he also beats baby seals on the weekend with a nine iron for fun!! Why does it matter why he was hunting unless he was doing it illegally, which doesn't seem to be the case. Let it go and utilize his first hand knowledge to your benefit.
I enjoy hunting, and think it would be an absolute BLAST, to hunt elephant! Donate the meat to feed the hungry, sell the ivory and donate the proceeds to some people that need it.
best,
Justin
Every bit of it makes sense, hard to understand why they are arguing
Doesn't surprise me. From people that eat deer penis and bear gall bladder.
Kill a bear for its gall bladder and leave the rest to rot, just like the elephants and rhinos.
They'll eat anything that breathes and sh!ts.
What the hell are you talking about?

It's quite clear, isn't it? I think shark fin soup would've been a better example - now that is extremely wasteful, and ruinous to the oceans.
And when you kill one, what do you do with it? Its not like you pay the extra baggage fee and bring it home. Its like going out to a game farm. You pay a guide, ride out to a spot where they know there is a 99% chance of spotting a herd. They have spotters. The spotters radio in that
there is a herd 4 miles west of Oomfufu lake. Your driver takes you there and you pull the trigger.
I just cut out a newspaper article re religious leaders getting together and doing their part in trying to stop the poaching of elephants and rhino in Kenya.
Eric, you seem to be reading from a different book than the rest of us.
They also mentioned that the largest market for ivory is China.
And when do we know when it is a good time to stop killing elephants, tigers, lions, gorillas and orangutans?
When there are 4 of them left and they are already in zoos.
Did the enlightenment ever reach the US? Sometimes it is difficult to tell.
